Samick 12 String Acoustic

There is a beautiful Samick 12 String acoustic guitar at my local music store for 200 bucks.

I couldn't find any reviews on epinions (or elsewhere for that matter). Any thoughts anyone?

I'm a beginner, took guitar up again at age 42, been playing a little over a year, really enjoy it. My son is actually pretty good, he's taken lessons for a year and a half. We own a Gibson SG, a couple Fenders (strat and tele) and a Fender Parlour acoustic.

Any comments or pointers would be appreciated! Thanks!

Samick has been around for a few years, but in my mind makes cheap guitars. It would be an okay guitar for a beginner but not one that you can grow into. If you've been playing for a year or two and are getting restless to move up to a better guitar, expect to pay at least $400 for a decent intermediate-quality instrument.

Yamaha has always impressed me with the quality of its intermediate-level guitars. Another would be Alvarez. Both should be a heckuva lot better than a Samick, and retain more value over the years as well.

RE: Samick 12 String Acoustic

Thank you! I may hold off then. Our store has everything from the $200 Samick to a $1200 Guild in the 12 string category. Our Bob (the store owners name) carries Fender, Yamaha, Gibson Laravee and a few others in acoustic guitar. Ever week, while one of is in our lesson(s), the other is messing around with any number of guitars or amps for sale.

I just got my son a Kentucky Mandolin for his birthday there. He loves it! (alas it too, is not in our database)

I would agree that Yamaha is an outstanding bang for the buck and I've also liked some Suzuki 12 strings.

I have an Alvarez-Yairi six string that is a pet of mine but I don't think the plain Alvarez is as good as the hyphenated model.

Hey, I have an Alvarez Yairi too, which I bought new in 1975. It still plays nice after all these years!

Samick

I've sold Samick for years. I do not have a guilty conscience selling these guitars, if that helps. Samick is actually a choice guitar, if not a "top-of-the-line" guitar. i don't see you getting robbed buying it that cheap. (only my two cents though).

Suzuki 12 string acoustic guitar

I have a 1980 Suzuki 12 acoustic guitar, number F 120 that is in pristine condition, and I guess I would sell it since my arthritis has prevented from playing it for 25 years. Would you be interested in seeing photos?
