entertainment rewards is not rewarding

I can't believe a company that is somewhat reknowned for their discount books is so horrible with customer service. Much less, they are quite willing to take your money whether you tell them they can or not! I bought tickets online from ticketmaster and the entertainment rewards site claims I authorized them at that time to start me on some online discount program. I never did! I declined the offer. They then took my financial information from ticketmaster and started taking money from my account monthly. They have since cancelled the account after a lot of argumentative emails but still refuse to refund the monies they had taken. It's sad to see such a reputable company treat customers so bad. My advice to anyone, stay away from this company. They aren't worth the trouble.

RE: entertainment rewards is not rewarding

The exact same thing happened to me. I never signed up for the Entertainment Rewards program and now they claim that I did and they want to charge me $9. Their representative claimed they sent me 3 confirming e-mails but I never received a single e-mail from this company until they canceled my non-existent account. The representative actually claimed that their bill must be legitimate because "Ticketmaster is such a big company it must be legal."

I have had my credit card company refuse the payment and will contact my state's attorney general about this fraud. If others have had the same experience please let me know.

Me too

I have had the same problem! I had no idea why this charge kept occurring on a credit card I rarely ever use. Now I know it was because of Ticketmaster. I will NEVER use their services again. I can't seem to find a contact number to use to cancel the service though...can you PLEASE help me. I am so angry, I am going to contact Ticketmaster to complain as well. This kind of thing is ridiculous.

RE: Me too

Ok guys, this has happened to thousands of people whether they know it or not.

Go to www.ripoffreport.com and search for "Entertainment Reward". File a report there so more people will know about this scam.

To get a refund you need to call them and ask to speak to a supervisor. They are very adamant at claiming you authorized the charges by entering your email address twice and clicking "Ok." We may have taken those steps but did not know we were authorized these charges. I too never received an email from them even though they claim they sent out confirmation emails notifying my card would be charged.

Please also contact the BBB in Troy Michigan where the company is based. Their address is www.easternmichiganbbb.org.

I am also starting a website where people can share their horror stories and get the word out about this scam. The address is www.entertainmentrewardscam.com and should be up and running by July 20, 2005.

RE: Me too

Hi, I am also a victim of Entertainment Rewards scheme, where they deceptively lure a ticket purchaser to enter their e-mail address to allegedly 'sign' up for their service. How they get the credit card number is a mystery to me, but somehow I believe that Ticketmaster could be involved (or maybe Entertainment Rewards is deceiving them, too). I still say that this is an act of fraud on the part of Entertainment Rewards (at least). I copied the address and phone number for Entertainment Rewards from a website http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff148953.htm
where another Ticketmaster service user who got scammed by Entertainment Rewards posted his comments. I have included the info below:

Entertainment Publications/Entertainment Rewards
Address:
1414 E. Maple Road
Troy Michigan 48083
U.S.A.
Phone Number:
866-364-1333

If you don't get any satisfaction after contacting Entertainment Rewards, call your credit card company and ask them to reverse the charges and to contact Entertainment to have them cancel the service. They should be able to help you with that.

How do I cancel Entertainment Rewards?

Hi, I recently got roped into the Entertainment Rewards program yesterday when I bought Nine Inch Nails tickets from ticketmaster. I am now trying to cancel the service during the "free" 30 day period so that I don't get these ridiculous charges for nothing. The only problem is, I have no way of contacting them and cancelling it. Their website won't open, I can't only find how to sign up again. If someone could give me an address or phone number that I could use to cancel, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

RE: entertainment rewards is not rewarding

This happened to me too. I just got off the phone with their customer service person for the 2nd time. First time they gave me the song and dance about not being able to refund me and I had them cancel the account. Then I read all of your posts and called them back. I stayed very forceful and he said he could refund me 1 month. I again said that won't do because these are "unauthorized charges" and I never gave you my credit card information or allowed you to take it from Ticketmaster. He then double-checked and what a surprise he could refund me the 2 months that they charged me!

Shame on Ticketmaster for being associated with this secretive charging.

ENT REWARDS

Before you assume that you DID NOT sign up for the service you should A. TAKE responsibilty for your actions, you may or may not have MEANT to do it but bottom line YOU DID, trust me. I have signed up for the service and LOVE IT.
B. Rember that the people you are calling to ream out our just doing the job that they have to do, they are not sitting there charging your card. When I went to cancel my rewards I did ask for a refund NICELY I did not threaten people and call them names, guess what I got 1 month back which in my opnion is more than they should have given me. I was stupid enough to NOT READ everything so I deserved to have to pay the money. BOTTOM LINE >>>> YOUR MISTAKE LIVE WITH IT.... MAYBE YOU SHOULD ACT LIKE ADULTS RATHER THAN TRY TO BLAME EVERYONE ELSE FOR YOUR ACTIONS

Ok

I just became a member of epinions.com in order to respond to the last posting by Anne1234.
A) I am sure that we can all agree that Anne1234 does not work at Entertainment Rewards. Hahaha. It was so cleverly written.
B) Act like adults, come on, at least we all have jobs or are in school so we don't have to work at places that steal from people.
C) All previous posters in this forum are correct, just contact your credit card company and dispute the charges. I did and it was all resolved to my satisfaction.

By the way Anne1234, if you loved the service from ERewards so much why cancel the service. That was just a stupid posting. Normally I wouldn't respond to such crap but I felt compelled.

Your right she must be from the company, because she choked herself in her message. She loved the service so much she canceled. Makes no sense to cancle something you love. We do have to make sure when we are on any internet site, we read everything. There is so many things that are tempting and say FREE, but are not free in fact. Don't click on until you read the terms and conditions on getting something free. We all been there, so watch what you click and remember nothing is free anymore.

*cough*

http://www.epinions.com/E-Rewards/display_~reviews

Go write actual reviews of the place. More people may see it, and you may even make a penny or two if you write more than 200 words and the review is helpful or very helpful...

RE: How do I cancel Entertainment Rewards?

Just happened to me too. I then saw that my may and June credit card statements showed a $7 a month charge. Obviously Ticketmaster is where this occurs but I tell ya what, when your buying concert tickets and have 2 minutes to fill in the information you hurry!
I first called "entertainment rewards" to cancel something i nebver accepted. I then called my credit card company and "disputed" the charges and they removed BOTh the May and June charge. Only took about 10 minutes,....I still say they are sneaky bastards!!!!

Amen

Hey, look at me...... click, I agree, yes, continue, yes, move on, yes, I will, yes, yes, yes. "WHAT, YOU CHARGED ME?!?!?!?!?" "I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR ANYTHING, I KNOW WHAT I CLICKED!!!" I believe I was taught about responsibility around the age of 10, it appears you "adults" need a lesson. Just because YOU choose not to read what YOU are agreeing to does not give you the right to cry like little babies when you are charged a whopping $7 or $9. Man up and take responsibility for your actions. The I'll show you mentality of your whining makes me want to puke. Ultimately, you made an error by not reading the print as you clicked about on your merry way of placing your order. That's it, nothing more, no scam, no controversy, no fine print. YOU FAILED TO READ, YOU SHOULD GET OVER IT!!

Entertainment Rewards

OK, I admit it, I deliberately signed up for Entertainment Rewards -- on purpose, of my own free will. Every month they charge me $7.00 to my credit card, and every month I print off $20-40 worth of money-saving coupons to my favorite local Indian restaurants. I get much more than my $7.00 back in coupons. I also just printed off a $5.00 off coupon for my husband to buy something at the local Bike Line. While I certainly don't approve of anyone signing people up for services without their knowledge, I would like to point out that Entertainment Rewards is a legitimate place to get much more value than the $7.00 they charge each month. Visit www.entertainment.com for yourself and check it out. Beats getting all upset and calling and talking to customer service people.

RE: Me too

You know what I just discovered that Entertainment Reward has been taking money out of my account I didn't even notice it until today. I also purchased tickets from ticketmaster and I can't believe this. I defenetly know what you mean by that so upsetting. But you need to cancel your card and just close it cause they wont stop taking money out of it if you leave it open. Its better to close it and go threw that little hassel then having money taking out of your account from this scam. I just did a disclaim on mine and I am getting my money back and I canceled my card to. Its not that hard, talk to your card company I am sure that they will be able to help you. Good Luck!!!

Oh, please.

Oh, BROTHER. Like the 3 or 4 people that defended ent. rewards wasn't the same person (or same 2 people), and like this person doesn't work for ent. rewards. I'm seriously thinking about buying someone some tickets from ticketmaster, carefully going through the steps, and then finding this DISCLAIMER that is just so OBVIOUS, that 1000's of people have overlooked it. I'll be happy to post my findings... everywhere. If people are so stupid, then why does ent.com have to take such great measures to get the $7 or $9? And WHY are some peope being charged $9 and some $7, if we're all signing up for the same thing in the same way? Of course it's a SCAM. OTHERWISE, there would be a page in which it's made clear that YOU WILL BE CHARGED, in big, BOLD words, so all of us STUPID people could make a CHOICE as to whether we want to sign up or not. There wouldn't be something HIDDEN in a DISCLAIMER about how buying tickets from ticketmaster automatically signs you up with Entertainment Rewards! I just discovered the $9 on my billing statement, twice. And for your info., oh he who is SO wise, when they sign you up at $9 for a YEAR, it's $108. I personally feel I'd rather spend my money on something other than making a fraudulent company rich. I'll be back after I buy some tickets to explain exactly what the disclaimer says and what happens, because I think we should all know how these companies sneak in.

Entertainment Rewards Scam

It is a scam. I reported the charges as fraudulent to my credit card but have made repeated calls to Entertainment Rewards and they just put me on hold for upwards of 30 minutes. A real company would have enough service reps to field calls from members. I did buy a ticket through ticketmaster and still have my receipt, it says nothing about signing up for Entertainment Rewards.
