Bestpricecameras.com worst scam

DO NOT BUY...repeat...DO NOT BUY from them. They are a total scam. I ordered Sony handycam for $504 without reading all these comments (and I wish I had). The next day the rep called and told me that I would need to order battery. Since it was my first time buying a camcorder and I was in the store and did not have time, I didn't really question and said it was ok. He told me the new total was $743.00 with $139.99 battery. Within moments after I hung up, I noticed that the total does not match. I called, left messages, e-mailed to let them know that if the total is more than $643.99, I would be cancelling. No response. I called back over the weekend to find them closed. I called Monday, and this "Anthony" takes my call to just harass me. I asked to talk to his manager, then "Ishihara" comes up. He abused me verbally for cancelling my order, but said that the transaction was not processed so I would not be charged.
Today, I find that somebody used my credit card to buy purses at Coach for $540, and at some unknown store for $150 things. I read somewhere that these guys pass the credit card info to other losers...well THEY DO!!! BE VERY AWARE. DO NOT BUY from them. Also to let you know, I was billed for $743 for the camcorder that I cancelled and never received. I'm going through dispute.
I had to close my bank account, dispute a transaction and now have to wait for the next statement to see if any other unknown damege has been done. Please save yourself from going through all these troubles. I learned my lesson the hard way.

Tried to order a Canon G7
Tried the old Bait and switch. After online order the asked me to call for verification.
When I called, they said camera came with inferior battery and memory and then said would be refurbished and sent from overseas. I cancelled order.

RE: Bestpricecameras.com worst scam

Scam artists. Review the Better Business Bureau complaints at http://tinyurl.com/y2hyjc.

My personal interaction:

I ordered a Canon professional series lens and wanted overnight delivery.

2 business days later, a rep from the www.BestPriceCameras.com calls and first thing tries to get me to agree to the inferior Sigma lens. He told me it was just as good, actually better, for the camera I have (Canon Digital Rebel XTi).

I told him it isn't, said I wasn't interested and asked how long it would be until I got the lens I ordered.

He said 3 weeks.

I said that won't do and I want to cancel my order.

He said, "Fine, not a problem." - and hung up on me! No confirmation that the order has been canceled, not a goodbye, sorry we couldn't help you, and all that nice stuff a good company that wants to keep customers does.

I tried to call the number that my Caller ID said called - it was a bad number.

I called the customer service number and talked to a guy there who sounded slightly nicer, but still a weasel. He confirmed who I talked to and that the order had been canceled.

Then I asked to speak to the first guy's manager.

The manager made no apologies. I accused him of bait-and-switch. He had no defense. I told him about the above rudeness. His reply was "That's weird. Chris has been with us for years and we've never got a complaint about him."

It is obvious from 5 minutes of interaction with these people that all they want is to speak to suckers they can pull their stunts on. As soon as they get someone who is on to them, they get rid of them as soon as possible.

Don't! Don't! Don't do business with this company!

bait and switch

I too was scammed. I ordered the NEC VT695 projector. Salesperson called to ask what type of lamp I wanted. Said that the projector only had a 50 hour bulb. Offered me a 2000 or 3000 hour bulb adding hundreds of dollars to the cost. Had not done my homework and ordered the 2000 hour bulb. Projector arrived and I checked to see what bulb I had installed. Turns out the projectors only come with one bulb. It is rated at 3000 hours. Cost went from $825 to $1170. Could have bought the projector for $985 from other vendors. Cannot return it without a restocking fee. On the plus side, the projector was new.

BESTPRICECAMERAS.COM IS A SCAM

We should all write letters to our major news affiliates, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, and persuade them to do an investigative expose on bestpricecameras.com (they operate under multiple names) and other online crooks in such news-shows like 20/20 or Dateline. I've read the reviews about bestpricecameras.com from a number of public forums as well as the complaints filed to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) --- and all this would make such a compelling, informative, and cautionary TV-documentary about bestpricecameras.com in particular and the digital camera gray-market in general.

I too share a similar experience with bestpricecameras.com. I made an online purchase for a Canon Rebel Xt for $449. I called to confirm my order and they said I would have to pay an additional $149 for batteries. I said that Canon should have already have a battery in the manufacture box, but they said that it doesn't. I said I needed more time to think about it and to cancel my order and the guy hung up. Feeling uneasy about the phone call, I googled "bestpricecameras.com" (which, I know, I should've done earlier) and found hundreds of stories about how people were receiving the wrong items, paying more than they agreed to pay, inferior parts, wrong warranties, opened boxes, unitemized invoices, extremely rude, offensive customer service, and, worst of all, unapproved credit card charges after they get your credit card information! Although I told them to cancel my order, I knew I couldn't trust them, and so after reading other people's accounts, I decided it would be best to cancel my credit card to avoid them from making unapproved transactions (one person said that his card was charged for a Barcelona plane ticket!). It's been such an inconvenience but I'm glad I was able to cancel in time before they made charges: 7 days without a card is better than months and months of headaches from dealing with these rude, unethical people.

Such stories and complaints about bestpricecameras.com have been CONSISTENTLY posted online since 2005, with frequent reports to the Better Business Bureau and the NY General Attorney. I have no idea how they still continue to do business.

To shed light on the dishonest scam practices of bestpricecameras.com WE SHOULD ALL WRITE TO OUR LOCAL AND NATIONAL NEWS syndicates to tell them about this store and their unethical selling practices. If the BBB and NYC aren't going to shut this place down, we can at least have reporters broadcast our frustrations and their illegal practices to a wider audience. I wait for the day I tune in for nightly news and see these people exposed for their criminal acts.

Bestpricecamera scammer elite

Jonathan is the big salesperson at this Brooklyn Boiler room. All of the salesmen take turns being supervisors, managers, shipping department or whatever you request once you have a problem. If you look further you find out that atleast a dozen different electronic sellers on the internet all have 800 numbers that funnel into the same group of salesmen. These webnames and companies are owned out of the State of Washington but operate through New York. This is because if you go to New York's Attorney General with complaint, they see the business is operating out of Washington so they send complaint to Washington State's Attorney General. He looks at it and says....mmmm not our problem they are really working out of New York. This is how boiler rooms can keep their doors open ripping off the public.
You think your getting a great deal on an item and then they start the switch game....they tell you that you need all these accessories that normally come with the item as seperate items that are being sold to you for very high prices...example 6 hour battery for camcorder Best Price Camera's Price $199.00 realistic price from anywhere else $35.00. They tell you that the price on the website is for an imported model of the item you seek but that those are back ordered. They explain that the USA brands are 3 times the price and you can order those without accessories.
They are pushy and typical fast talking New Yorkers and have the pitch down pat. They are liars and thieves and are making millions on the American public.
What do we do about it?? Nothing cause we don't have the time to go after them. I like the idea of Major News doing documentary on these scams. They need to be put out their in all their glory. Hope some major news media will decide to go after them and shut these places down. If we still have organized crime in this country then this whole group is owned by one of them.
My story is typical and I lost about $300.00 and 6 months of grief dealing with this pathetic company. If they do a documentary hope they ask me as I have a nice story to spin.

DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY OR ANY OF THOSE LOW PRICE NEW YORK ELECTRONIC OUTLETS ON THE NET AS THEY ARE ALL CONNECTED.

RE: Bestpricecamera scammer elite

I just placed an order on Saturday and was concerned that the confirmation did not reference a total $ amt nor did I get an e-mail confirmation. I then called to follow up and found out that they were closed on Saturday. The website did not reflect that. So I called on Sunday and was placed on hold for 1/2 an hour to then be told the item I ordered was not in stock. I asked for a confirmation of cancellation and they said that they do not do that. I expressed my concern and they ended the call by calling me a loser and hanging up.

I've successfully purchased dozens of items on the internet for years and this is the first time I have come across such a scam.

bestpricecameras.com not only scammers but very rude

I placed an online order with bestpricecameras.com for a Panasonic Lumix camera. The price listed for this camera was $100 cheaper than other online retailers, so being a cautious buyer I searched for customer reviews. The first site I pulled up was full of positive reviews, so I moved forward with my purchase. I have since found several other reviews of this retailer that were negative and from buyers who had a similar experience to mine.

Beware...the items on the site to not disclose that they do not come with a lithium battery - of which they want to charge you $100 or more. I made my online purchase and then received an email saying I would have to speak to a customer service rep to complete my order.

I received a call from a rep this morning who confirmed my credit card information before asking "and which battery would you like with that a 2 or 4 hour?" I responded with the obvious that "doesn't the camera include a battery?" of which he said no and then told me they cost $99 and $149. I told him I needed to speak to my husband and that I would call back. I searched their site for any mention that the camera did not include a battery before calling back to ask where this was stated on their website. At that time, I spoke to another individual who was very rude and simply said "the website doesn't say it DOES or DOES NOT include a battery." I told him I considered this false advertising and he became very angry and told me it's not false advertising because it doesn't say anything. I was so shocked at how angry he was that I asked to speak to the original rep. He transferred me and then when I asked to cancel the order I was hung up on. I called back 2 more times to confirm that my order was cancelled. The first time the rep told me I would be charged a $39 cancellation fee and I told him I would dispute that charge with visa, so he told me it would not be charged. I called a third time to confirm that my card would not be charged. Obviously I will follow up with Visa to make sure I was not charged.

I have made many, many online purchases and have never come across a more rude and dishonest company. It was obvious from their response and attitudes that they know they are running a scam and bait and switch operation. Be careful!

Lots of people come here to share experiences and commiserate with one another. Naturally reviews are encouraged and many go on to write a review. Many don't. They just share their experiences.

This is how it always has been.

BEST PRICE, but NOT w/out $$$ Xtras

You cannot buy an item without accessories, which are priced tremendously high. I unfortunately gave them my credit card code - now I'll be on the lookout for fraudulent charges! STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

RE: BEST PRICE, but NOT w/out $$$ Xtras

I fell for the same trap and last night called my credit company to warn them of possible exhorbitant charges that may appear and that I would contest them. After thinking it over this morning I decided it would be easier to just cancel the card rather than dispute any fraudulent charges at a later date. It seems like there is a good chance that this may happen given all the reviews. I suggest anyone including yourself that has fallen for this, to cancel the card as well. It took 5 minutes to cancel and the new card will be here in 7-10 days. In the meantime I will just use my debit card and change the one automatic payment I had hooked up to it when the new card arrives. It can take months of hassle and countless hours to appeal a fraudulent charge! Those were my two cents. BESTPRICECAMERAS.com is a group of complete crooks that should be thrown in jail for the felonies that they commit on a daily basis. How the BBB has not shut them down is beyond me. STAYAWAY at all costs, do not be tempted by their low price veneer, you will NEVER get it for that price!

RE: BEST PRICE, but NOT w/out $$$ Xtras

My husband found the bestpricecameras.com site and we ordered a camcorder with them over the internet yesterday. After I placed the order, we did some research on this site, resellersratings.com and the BBB. I am so grateful to have this feedback. One hour after placing my order with bestpricecameras.com I called my CC company and cancelled my card, thanks to reading all the horrendous reviews about this seemingly scamming, scum company. What a lot of grief we have been spared by all of the posts on this site and others. I have never seen such damning reviews EVER. Luckily there were no charges on my card and I cancelled it in time. They don't seem to work from Friday night thru Saturday evening. THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR POSTS!!

BestPrice SCAMMERS!!!!

MY wife ordered a camera from Bestpricecameras.com in good faith, A nikon D70s with two Nikkor lenses, for $899.00. Yesterday some sales rep called me (her Husband) to tell me that she "ordered the plastic lenses, and for $339.00 more they will sell the glass lenses!" I told him you've got to be kidding, Nikon doesn't sell "plastic lenses". He became very rude and tried to sell me a "battery pack" for $149.00. I told him to cancel the whole thing, at which point he simply hung up. (They do this a lot, it seems.)A While later after about three fruitless tries, I got a lackey from that company to give me a cancellation confirmation number. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY.How they stay in business is beyond me. This would make a great expose for 60 Minutes or MSNBC. All they have to do is place an order!

Feedback About BestPriceCameras.com

Never buy anything from them.
I ordered Sony Handicam for $469. I got the confirmation e-mail from them, regarding the order and mentioning that someone would contact me within 48 Hrs. After that no activity in my mail box or phone from them. Not only this I tried calling their customer support at-least 10 times, but no proper response. I lost other better deals, which were available over internet on that weekend because of that. On wednesday, when I called 11th time, they said, your order is backordered for 6 weeks and I was not even informed about it. I cancelled the order and hopefully saved myself from any future problems because of the.
in the bold:
NEVER BUY A CAMERA FROM BESTPRICECAMERAS.COM
THEY HAVE POOR CUSTOMER SUPPORT
NO CUSTOMER VALUE, WHEN CUSTOMER CALLS
NO INFORMATION AVAILABLE ONCE YOU FINISH ORDERING ONLINE
THEY PROVIDE 1000 DIFFERENT ATTRACTIONS ON THE WEB PAGE, BUT ALL OF THEM LOOK FAKE

Almost got me

I was/am shopping for a Cannon Rebel XTI. The best price I have seen (without lens) is from B&H @ $656.00. These jokers advertise it at $299.00. If it looks to good to be true.........

After reading all these posts I'd pay $900 elsewhere before I'd deal with these fools.

Unreliable store

Bestpricecameras.com is horrible. They do not honor the prices that they advertise. Received this email to my recent order:

"Thank you for your recent order with us. The product you selected is currently not in stock. We will not be restocking it for another 6-8 weeks time. Your card has NOT been charged and your order has been cancelled. We will notify you via email as soon as we restock it.Thank you,Ken"

Since they now have my credit card information I decided to cancel my credit card to avoid fraudulent charges from this fraudulent company.
