Dare I ask why...

Are there no reviews of shooting sports here ?
There's nothing here about firearms or even air guns, and air guns are not considered to be " firearms " even in restrictive states like Massachusetts (Where I live.).
No, I'm not a " gun nut " with an arsenal. I just like to shoot sporting clays & tin cans with my son in the backyard. I'm interested in seeing objective reviews of these items here.

RE: Dare I ask why...

I'm not exactly sure, the topic has been brought up before and I believe it has to do with the product catalogs that are used, but I'm not sure.

Your best bet would probably be to email the staff directly as ask them or contact the Category Lead in Outdoors (Openroad).

It has been discussed

in many places. It is one of many items not in the database. I think campgrounds should be, for example. I don't know if anyone has the answer. Perhaps at the next chat (there's one about every 4 months I think) it can be asked. jo

Epinions does not currently have firearms or hunting gear in its database, nor has it ever had it in there. I also don't think that our Lead for Outdoor Gear, Openroad can add this kind of material to Epinions.

If people have questions or concerns about this policy, they can email Epinions directly at their feedback form.

To me in my role as Joe Content Consumer...

...it's a glaring omission. Epinions is my go-to website for product reviews, and now that I'm once again in the market for a defensive firearm (not for me this time...) I can only say that I'm disappointed to find no reviews whatsoever on site.

It's not something that the membership or even the Category Lead for Outdoor Goods can take care of. I would suggest that you either email Epinions staff or submit some comments via their Feedback Form. Perhaps they will change their mind in the future.

Hunting and Firearms

You can also post firearm reviews to the 'hidden' Outdoor Gear category that has been identified in this post...though I'm not sure how folks would react to posts here or if they are even shown to the general public. It seems to be a 'catch-all' general topic for outdoor gear.

Hunting

It appears that there are now some hunting topics here on Epinions, courtesy of our database upgrade. It still doesn't appear to have firearms, but there are hunting knives and some hunting gear.

Since there are now some topics, SAP requests for new items not in the database may be possible, but you'd have to talk to the lead, Openroad here in Sports and Outdoors.

Hunting, Guns & Ammo

Besides hunting, Rifles can be reviewed here and ammo is also reviewable thanks to the upgrades.

Air rifles don't exactly count.

I have a real rifle review on another site (AC) and it has gotten a TON of hits. People do want to read gun reviews, but this site is just too liberal to support them.

RE: Hunting, Guns & Ammo

I think ammo counts plenty though and we've got quite a few writers who are writing quite a few reviews on it.
