United Home Warranty

United Home warranty is a SCAM. I purchased a home then purchased my policy 3 months later my heat/air unit goes out I call them to file a claim. they refused the claim indicating I need to provide docs indicating I had the unit cleaned. None of this information is in the fine print or the contract. They will not pay the claim. My unit was in perfect working condition, now its out I have a warranty i paid for that is useless and i will be out of money for the repair I have to pay myself. What is the use of the warranty. ITS A SCAM. every time i call the company a guy named Ted answers and will not transfer me to his manager and he forwards me to a fake voice mail and I never get a call back.. They need to be exposed! They are not part of the BBB but i did file a claim with consumer affairs.

RE: United Home Warranty

This just happened to me yesterday. I spoke to a person named Ted who told me I did not have a contract and my card was declined. But, mind you, the money was debited from my account from "United Home Warranty". I filed a claim with BBB and the Consumer Affairs in New Jersey yesterday.

Have you heard back from Consumer Affairs?

RE: United Home Warranty

I've been in their hold queue for over an hour and have spoken to a person only once - briefly - before being transferred back to the hold queue. They do need to be exposed! I'm trying to contact Clark Howard, the consumer advocate. Look him up on the web at www.clarkhoward.com and let him know, too. My seller paid $333 for a warranty and they have declined the buyer services. Now they can't be reached!

United Home Warranty SCAM

United Home Warranty (UHW) denied me the coverage I am entitled to through my home warranty. I sent UHW the proof of when I purchased my home and my service records proving that the furnace and A/C were serviced and in working order before and after the home warranty was purchased.

I also called every day from Friday, May 4, 2007 through Thursday, May 17, 2007. Every time I called, there were no supervisors available. I left several voicemails for "Ted" and "Michael Moore", but never received a call back.

On Thursday, May 17, 2007, after holding for 20 minutes, I finally spoke with "Jacob Wilson" who identified himself as the "Head Supervisor". Jacob stated that my claim was denied due to insufficient service records. I told him my documents prove that the equipment was in working order at the time I purchased coverage from UHW, and that I serviced the equipment as soon as I took ownership of the home. Jacob stated that it doesn't matter, my claim is still denied.

I've contacted the BBB, consumer affairs, 7 on your side, and my credit card company's fraud department.

** If you bought your home warranty with a credit card, your credit card company may be able to issue a charge back like mine did. At least you'll get your money back.***

Hope this helps.

United Home Warranty

After countless attempts in the past 2 weeks to have a contractor assigned to my service request with United Home Warranty I finally get it assigned. But, the contractor no longer does business with United Home Warranty. So I called back to find out why they didn't know this and to have the service request reassigned I get put into 1,2hr holds that I end up just hanging up.

So I called back again and know the recording says that the name of the company is National Home Protection!! I called back again thinking I misdialed the number but nope that wasn't it. They changed their name, likely due to the amount of complaints. And now I will have to fight to get my money back for the remainder of my policy.

I am definitely going to file a complaint with the BBB against them. I can't begin to tell you how angry I am with this company. It's as if they have 3 people working there! Because I always talk to the same 3 (1 for each option you choose) and their hours are horrible.

RE: United Home Warranty

No I haven't heard anything from the Consumer affairs but UHW will be exposed very very soon and I hope this generates a lawsuit against them. The only posting that comes up ont he web now is for our complaints their website doesn't even pull up anymore!

The number that was posted for UHW is now being routed to information asking what city and state. What a rip off!

3 year home warranty

I got a 3 year home warranty from United Home Warranty in December 2006. Now I'm unable to contact them! I did call up "National Home Protection" (talked to 'Jennifer'), but they refuse to recognize their affiliation with "United Home Warranty". BTW their email: information@unitedhomewarranty.com does NOT return 'Undelivered' message. However, I haven't received any replies from them till date. Worst, my credit card company refuses to dispute the transaction after 120 days.

I would be interested in participating in any actions that is being started against this company.

UNITED HOME WARRANTY

I just found out this place was a fraud. Their 1-800 number no longer exist. When you try to call it you get directory assistance. No such place seems to exist. Is anyone filing a case action suit? I would like to join in, if anyone has started this. This has cost me $990. plus the expense of a plumber.

UNITED HOME WARRANTY

I have filed a complaint with the BBB, Consumer's Affair, FBI, and Office of the Inspector General. I encourage you to do the same. Maybe we will get someone's attention.

united home warranty

I guess they are out of business. I had a washer quitting on me two days, since then I'm trying to contact them but I was unsuccesseful, their toll free is some directory assistance now.
I had this warranty for the last eight months, never had the need to use their services, but now i need my washer to be fixed!!!
Any idea what's our next step beside a complaint at BBB.

I paid 340 buck on February 2 to get a one year warranty. Now my oven doesn't work and I cant reach them. The number is directed to directory assistance. What can I do? Can I dispute money with my credit card company? Anyone has some advise?

Reply received from NJ Attorney General

I had lodged a complaint at the NJ Attorney Generalís office online. I followed this by sending (via Certified Mail) physical copies of complaint-related contracts, bills, receipts, canceled checks, correspondence relating to the "Division of Consumer Affairs, Office of Consumer Protection, 124 Halsey Street, PO Box 45025, Newark, N.J. 07101". Note that the NJ AG site states that "The Division will not initiate an investigation of your complaint until it has received legible copies of all of the documents you intend to submit as part of the evidence to support your complaint."

I received a reply from them yesterday. Details are as follows:

=========================================================
Thank you for writing to the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs about your concerns regarding United Home Warranty. After reviewing your complaint, we have referred your letter to the Consumer Protection Office listed below. The subject of your complaint is no longer operating as a New Jersey business. However our investigation has turned up some information that would indicate this company may be operating out of New York City under a new name. Your complaint has been forwarded to that office which is better equipped to help. A representative from that office will be in touch with you.

New York State Attorney General
Consumer Fraud Bureau
120 Broadway 3rd Floor
New York City, NY 10277
Attn:

{signed by State Investigator}
=========================================================

Will let you know when I hear anything from NY Attorney General.

I would advise that everybody affected lodge a complaint with New York Attorney General.
