Unmarried couple buying a house

My fiance and I bought a house together this past Dec. We closed on it Dec 29th. We were told that the closing costs (approx $5000) are tax deductible. Do we both have to claim the house? Is he able to claim the whole thing and I not mention anything about a house on my taxes? Or are we able to claim it for 2006?

RE: Unmarried couple buying a house

You might want to:
* consult a tax advisor
* consult an accountant
* read information available on www.irs.gov
* pray you don't get audited

One of those strategies may be less effective than the others.
