Chain Restaurants in Vacation spots.

Just looking for opinions others may have in reference to chain restaurants in vacation destinations.

I recently went to Cozumel and was definitely turned off by seeing the golden arches of McDonalds as my first site ferrying into the port. As I walked off the pier the first thing I saw was a Hard Rock Cafe. The rest of the town had all Mexican places to eat and dine.

Aside from the free enterprise issue, do you think it's a good idea for these places to be so dominant? Would you go to them as a place with a standard you know and accept? Do you think it will drive out the smaller local kind of places?

Phil

RE: Chain Restaurants in Vacation spots.

It is depressing to travel around the world only to find the ubiquitous Hard Rock Cafes and McDonalds everywhere. I do my best to avoid them--especially when abroad. Tom
