I need some honest unbiased opinions! I have researched for days on purchasing an elliptical machine for around $1000...no more than $1500. I have considered the Sole brand. But their stride is 20"! I am only 5'2"...and would that be too long a stride? The salesmen tell me I would have no problem with that stride. But, some websites indicate that I would have more of a running experience with a longer stride...and I want more of a walking experience. Please, somebody...does anyone know for sure??

PLEASE SOMEBODY, HELP ME OUT HERE! I do want to buy an elliptical machine. But I need to know if a 20" stride will give me a good smooth walking feel...or will I feel like I am stretching into running all of the time. I would appreciate hearing from one of you out there that has the knowledg...I am looking at the Sole 25 or Sole 55, and the stride on each is 20". The salesman says I should have no problem...but he may be just trying to make a sale?

just try it out on their sales floor, all it will take is 3 to 5 minutes and you will know beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I like the machine myself and am thinking of writing up a review. maybe ill go do that right now.

I came up on this thread last week, when I was shopping around for ellipticals, and I wanted to come back and post because I was in the same exact situation! I am also 5'2" and ended up getting the NordicTrack 1300 Elite which has a 20 inch stride as well. I was worried about "overextending" as some other sites mentioned, but I took the risk, and I'm very glad I did. This machine is great, and although it is quite tall, it is very comfortable for me to use, and I've had no problems with the stride or anything else.
