Announce Recall of Headlamp Batteries

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commis-
sion announces the following recall in voluntary cooperation
with the firms below. Consumers should stop using recalled
products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of product: Soliras Headlamp Lithium Ion Batteries

Manufacturer: Black Diamond Equipment Ltd., of Salt Lake
City, Utah

Hazard: The headlamp battery may overheat, posing a burn or
fire hazard to users.

Incidents/Injuries: No incidents or injuries have been
reported.

Description: The recalled batteries are found in Black
Diamond Soliras headlamps. The batteries has the following
dates which can be found on the battery label: 0703, 0803,
0903, 1003, 1103, 1203, 0104, 0204, 0304, 0404, and 0504.
The black headlamp has the words and symbol for the company
on the light.

Sold at: Authorized dealers nationwide sold the headlamps
from March 2004 through May 2004 for about $150.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the headlamps immediate-
ly and return the battery to the nearest authorized Black
Diamond dealer for a free replacement.

I'm thinking no

I think this concerns the sort of headlamp one wears on one's head when spelunking, mining coal, etc. Definitely don't want a fire when in use.

Leah, now that I read this, that's how I'd interpret it too. It sounds like this is not for the type of headlamp used in cars but rather a body-worn light.

Gives new meaning to the phrase, "Punch his lights out."
