Great reviews in danger of being overlooked

I want to take the opposite tack of the first topic here. I'd like to hear about great reviews by members new to the site or at least to the autos section, people whose work might otherwise be overlooked. So if you come across one, please leave a link and brief comment here.

Also, check back often so you can read the review and, if you agree it is good, leave an encouraging comment.

Too many people write only a review or two before abandoning the site. Maybe with prompt positive feedback more of the promising ones will stick around.

New reviewer

A fine review from a new member named fordperfect42 made for excellent reading. You can find it at www.epinions.com/content_176404270724.

RE: New reviewer

Since it's the first time I've used the MH button in C&M in a long time, I guess that counts for something.

RE: New reviewer

Excellent finds, both of you. This is exactly what I hoped would happen.

One minor issue: the Acura review is under the wrong model year because the 2005 was not listing. Shocking for such a popular product this late in the model year. I have created the appropriate listing and asked the reviewer to move it.

If he does so, I hope everyone who has rated the review where it is can rerate it under the 2005 listing. This isn't the guy's fault, so please no "off-topic" ratings.

Michael, I agree with you if there is no correct listing but now that you've created the correct listing, this guy needs an incentive to move his review. Therefore, I gave this review an OT and left the reviewer a comment urging him to move it to the new listing. With great ratings and all the praise we've heaped on him, he may simply think it's not worth the bother to move the review.

This Acura review is a really good one, however.

RE: New reviewer

I didn't see the no 'OT' thing until after I OT'd it. I did leave a comment though and am confident he understands that we all thought highly of the review...

Bike Review

We need more bike reviewers around here! I just read a review on the Blackbird that is one of the better bike reviews I've come across in quite a while. It's a new writer and this is his first entry in C&M. It's a little light on rates and is really worth taking a look at...

Helmet review

I just read a fine motorcycle helmet review from an Epinionator with few reviews. Here it is:

Thinking here...

The Liberty and XX reviews were pretty good, but the V-Max review was shaky, as the ratings attest. The NHs don't really count; they should be OT at worst because of the incorrect model year. (For the usual reason.)

I'm guessing the V-Max review was posted under this topic not because of the quality of the review so much as its author's potential for improvement. This broadens the mission of the topic, but might prove worthwhile. I'll have to keep an eye on such cases to see whether our attention has an impact.

1997 Blazer review

With 100 reviews, germank106 is not a newbie. However, she seems to have been flying under the radar on Epinions and recently wrote one of the most complete car reviews I've seen in a while. It hasn't gotten much attention.

Take a look at http://www.epinions.com/content_177355460228.

I just gave an MH to a member's first review. Definitely one I'm hoping will stick around...

Three more very promising reviewers

These three were all outstanding. Great finds.

As for the earlier one, I am a bit concerned about using this thread to give more ratings to a less than outstanding review that is getting rated lower than it should be. Perhaps another topic should address this issue.

One that slipped through the cracks

While checking for unrated reviews, I noticed this review from a few days ago without any rates. I know that it was not showing up on the Just-in page prior to the update this evening.

The 2005 Infiniti G35 by tamiyafan
http://www.epinions.com/content_178155327108

Also, I thought it might be nice if we have all the reviews up to date listed in one spot for any people that happen to run across this thread (rather than have to sort through this entire thread). Therefore Michael, perhaps you could edit your initial post from time to time and keep a full list of the reviews that come up in this thread. I've gone and done all of them up till now, so feel free to steal the code.

RE: One that slipped through the cracks

Both the Malibu and G35 reviews are excellent. Two more great finds.

I attempted to steal your code, but IE wasn't cooperating. Seems it doesn't like to copy multiple hyperlinks at once. I'll go back and copy then individually when I have a bit more time.

At any rate, the idea of this thread is to rate these reviews promptly. For this to work people have to return to this thread often--and should just have to find where they left off near the end. When this thread becomes too lengthy I'll likely make it read only and start a new one.

Good first review

Good first review from an owner:

After a lot of early activity, this thread has been dead for the past month. Hopefully we can get it going again.
