There is no such thing as bad publicity except your own obituary.

I was told, specifically, more than once, by various powers that be here that the sole reason I could not move up was becuase of my outside review work both in print and online.
Not just you, Kevin, eveyone - it's part of the Terms of Service as of September, 2006

the only quibble I would still...

...
The only quibble I would still like to make/have is the idea that somehow Epinions image needs to be more 'professional' site.

Pfffftttttttt..!!

We are all, collectively, the great melting pot of the world's consumers. How in the h3ll you ever gonna make that 'professional'

H3ll, half of us are a buncha putzes sitting around in our underwear typing out nonsense ...err, serious reviews on the Intertubes.

I want our image to be scruffy and down home and cosmopolitan and something that speaks for every possible sector of our world's societies and peoples. I want us to be people that read books, and watch movies, and use stuff, and break it, and get it all wrong and all right at the same time. And then come here and share our crazy experiences with this and that and that thing over there...

Interesting discussion by all. H3ll, even I learned me something today..!!

--snip--

The fact that you don't approve of or understand the point, Tom,does not diminish the validity of what I wrote. You can make fun of it all you want to. But, just like revenge raters, your actions say a lot about you when you choose to do so. It really is too bad you aren't the same helpful guy you were when I first came here before you lost your status and went bitter.

I also forgot I wanted to address these thoughts too, Kevin.

Yes I have had my . . .'rocky' times on the site. And yes there were times when I saw conspiracy acting against me behind every action on the site. Yes ...I was the prototypical 'bitter user'.

But believe it or not ... I have worked through that. No one supports the site more than I do. Maybe my 'support' and your 'support' do not always mesh neatly ...but that is part of the beauty of Epinions. In the end, the community as a collective entity shoves the tenor and pulse of the site in one direction or the other ...with a wee bit of gently nudging and oversight from Brisbane.

The only status I worry about on Epinions is that 'status' I hold in the eyes and minds of my fellow users here.

Anyway . . .just something I felt that needed to be said.

Yes, if this is what you're talking about, Kevin, then most definitely any member who posts identical content both here and elsewhere is ineligible for titles. But the mere fact that a member also reviews on other sites does not disqualify them--only the duplication of content.

RE: Need something added (SAP) to the epinions database?

After conferring with the other leads I've made some additional changes.

It was: "But so are you, and you're the one asking me for a favor"

It's now: "But so are you, and the more information you supply, the faster this gets completed"

Removed: after the quip about Granny's erotica: "Don't argue with us or demand an explanation if we decide against adding it"

And estimated wait time has been updated.

Now the post is more accurate and slightly less offensive. But hopefully not completely innocuous. I'd hate to be totally inoffensive.

Sure am glad my reviews don't get edited this closely.

Requested SAP

I assume it takes several days perhaps more than a week to get a book listed into the system once the SAP forms are filled out.

I filled one out a few days ago...haven't received email or word anything has been done.

Is there a way to get a WE received your request, we are working on it.. allow up to... for the book to appear.. etc. etc.

Thanks.

RE: Requested SAP

Hey Chris, nice to see you around these parts.

Right now we're running about 1-3 days to get a book added. I've just done yours.

I'll look into the possibility of an auto-response for the request form.

RE: Requested SAP

I like this idea as well. Not because I am complaining about the time it takes or anything like that. It would just be good to know that the request actually made it into the system to be worked.
