Do Artists Have A Social Responsibility To Uphold?

Consider the social impact of lyrics: do you feel that artists have the obligation to consider the potential negative effects that offensive lyrics have upon an audience? Or should artists be able to fully express themselves without being concerned with offending or negatively influencing listeners? Why?
