What better way than to throw a huge party. (Excuse my husband’s...Return to opinion

Thanks for the additions. And for the record.. I didn't leave your song suggestion out on purpose. I forgot it. <hanging head>
Anyway.. yay! You're here! Get busy writing, Mr. Matty Music Man. <hug>

Sticking my $0.02 in (Reply to this comment)

Welcome to my nightmare, I mean, my first post at Epinions.com. I can't think of a better way to start my reign of terror here than to add some comments that my BEST FRIEND Teach may have overlooked with her list.
As a person born in 1970, I was fortunate enough to be too young to remember the first coming of the "Disco Revolution". Unfortunately, radio stations feel the need to remind me of what I missed way back then. Whoever thought up the radio gimmick of "Saturday Night at the '70s" should be bludgeoned to death with a Disco Ball and/or a platform shoe. I must admit that there are some "discoey" songs I do like because my taste in music is as vast as the Sahara.
I promised Ms. Teach that I wouldn't toast any of her choices, and I won't. I just felt the need to include some glaring omissions from her list, as well as add comments to songs that had the honor of making her list.
1) "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen reminds me of those roller rink days a lot more than "Hurts So Good". The phrase "Couples Only skate" still brings a tear to my eye.
2) Since she can add "Hurts So Good" into a Disco list, I must add "You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC. A staple at any Christmas Party, wedding, etc. for getting people off their seat and onto the dance floor. It's a rock song you can dance to. Dance well to? That's another story entirely.
3) With all due respect to the Commodores and "Brick House", Teach's comment made me think of the highest ranking royalty of the One-Hit Wonder packed '80s and early '90s - Sir Mix-a-Lot with "Baby Got Back". "36-24-36? Only if she's 5' 3"" (which I think Teach is, by the way).
4) When she asked me for one last song to add to her list, I suggested this song to her, but she decided to ignore me and leave it out. So I'll put it here - "The Time Warp" from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. What other song tells you how to do the dance within the song itself? Besides the hokey-pokey I mean.
Ok, I'll end my dissertation here. I should be posting my own list shortly. So feel free to toast or roast me, at your leisure. "Happy trails to you, until we meet again" (I love the Van Halen version of that song).
