Pros: one of the better electronica DJ productions
Cons: not long enough, missing some of Van Dyk's good stuff

This CD has it for showcasing some of the best trip-hop, trance and electronica.
I've been exploring this genre for awhile now, well, a long time if you count early Kraftwerk, Gentle Giant and other experimentalists, and this is one of the best recent CDs I've come across. Recent being a relative term as this CD was released in Germany in 1994 but no to a US domestic release until 1998.
Starting with the best it has to be the two "For An Angel" mixes here. These selections are like adrenaline to me in the morning, OK, adrenaline tainted with X perhaps 'cause there's no harsh bloodshot eyes insanity in any of this CD.
The whole CD is tied together very well and moves from song to song with an obvious appropriateness that just wouldn't work any other way.
Listen to this CD in headphones if you get a chance and pay attention to the beginning of "I'm Comin' (to take you away)" for some sultry female cooing that could be sensual, or menacing... maybe on this CD it's both.
My favorite time to listen to this CD is at work while developing code. This stuff just seems to fit with me while designing, hacking and testing flight software that's eventually going to encounter comet Wild2 or go out to capture and return samples of the solar wind. The driving beat, repetitive melodic lines and lush production helps me to focus without lulling me to sleep or totally distracting me. To me, it's not necessarily happy music but more like a smart drug. Something about it must get the seratonin & dopamine going inside my brain enabling me to withdraw when I need to, shut off the distractions in the office and enjoy producing...
Yeah, sometimes I do get distracted, as the music leads me to dream of dancing in some late-night club; anonymous, hot & sweaty, bouncing, waving and tranced-out.
