Savage Garden's sophomore album, "Affirmation" is a great buy for those who loved their self-titled first album. Once again, the combined talents of musician Daniel Jones, and lyricist/singer Darren Hayes create a great sound without the mindless, cheezy pop songs we so often hear.
I bought this album only because I loved their first album so much. So many times, I have bought a band's sophomore album and was completely disappointed. "Affirmation" was not disappointing at all. The music and lyrics stay true to the sound of Savage Garden, but provides songs on a variety of different topics.
The first song on the album, which is also the title of the album, "Affirmation" is my least favorite. I appreciate the right of artists to express their views, but I am not a fan of politically focused songs. The music is great, but I don't agree with some of the lyrics.
I can't choose my favorite song on this album, because all of them are unique and absolutely wonderful. You can tell that this is a very personal album for Savage Garden, and the listener can relate to the feelings it exposes. I love this album and look forward to all of the albums that are made in the future!
