Best Top 10 Songs Ever; no kidding
by that-guy | Mar 19 '00
I know what you're thinking: what does that-guy know about music. Well, having been in college for god knows how long and living in college apartments, I've spent many hours with my ear against the wall of the couple next door and sometimes they played...

Well, good job! I especially like the Barney comment (see the last paragraph of my review of the "Frog & Toad" books for a similiar thought).

Those Shattner commercials crack me up! Now, as an old person (47), I sometimes have a hard time spotting the "irony" mode that you young people adopt, and it's taken me quite a while to "get it" about those Shattner ads. They're s'posed to be so stupid they're funny, right?

...to the previous two posters, there is nothing, absolutely nothing as emininently satisfying as a joke that has been completely missed by members of it's audience. Thank you two for reminding me of this simple fact. And thank you that-guy for brightening my day a little.

Yeah, you have NO taste in music, honey. I can't tell if you're joking or not be even mentioning new kids on the block and n'sync on there. You're allowed to like those bands (it's a free country) but don't degrade yourself by even putting them on a list of top ten music OF ALL TIME. my lord.

This is the funniest review I have read all week, possibly topped only by your "What to Take to College" editorial. Your writing rocks, in a John Tesh sort of way.

that-guy: Shatner, Barney, and John Tesh, when I read your list I got some serious Goosebumps. I do however, have one small suggestion. Many is the time that I have been moved by the sexy sultry ways of "The Lambada". Is there a place in your heart for "The Forbidden Dance" That-guy?

Imagine our merged CD collection! I can bring classics from the pre-hip-hop era, like Was/Not Was "Everybody Rock The Dinosaur," a scientific analysis of the great extinct species; The Bangles' "Walk Like An Egyptian," a sensitive exploration of cultural differences, and "Boom Boom Boom Let's Go Back To My Room," a refreshingly subtle and poignant look at young people's romantic yearnings. Oh, but I could go on and on...

P.S. I am surprised that it took people 'til 'Barney' to figure it out...

I mean seriously, seriously scaring me...all the way to Barney. As soon as I picked myself up off the floor from laughing I thanked God that my illusions, about the immutability of the laws of physics and the profound coolness of that-guy, are still intact.

I was very surprised to note the glaring ommission of the Jingle Bells Christmas Dogs tune on this list.

I'm sure if,like me, you had stretched your list to 12, it would have been included.

So now that I can't see through the tears of laughter, I must go read some of your other offerings.

The poignancy of Vanilla Ice, the depth of Barney, you've covered it all. I've taped all the PriceLine radio ads with William Shatner because they've touched my heart and soul.
Enjoyed this review. What a crack up!

I had no idea until tonight that you had such a sensitive side trapped within you. I am in awe of your capacity to embrace all segments of society- ranging from lovers of bestiality to laxative addicts.

(And now I know why there were permanent ear-print stains on the college apartment I last occupied!)

Because of the reviews you write and the comments you leave me, you are one of the Top 5 reviewers I'd have on an island with me---I should probably seek therapy for even thinking that!...Mark
