Aight, lEt's sTart by SayinG Dat Hip Hop HAs cOme A LOOOOOng Way!
So NuFf ProPs 2 DaT ALonE! My 10 HIP HOP Lps of ALL time is BAsed Solely on Da Influence Dat it HAs MAde on THe Hip Hop Culture...
Y'all dig DIS...AIGHT, lEt's GOoooooooooooooooooo.....
10- Lauryn Hill's "Miseducation of Lauryn Hill". Got's 2 mention this lp, it caused such as ruckus when it came out. It won the most Lp's @ the Grammy's for a female & a HIP hOp artist, Now dat is sumthin else. Dis Lp is da bomb, & marks Dat Females r strong & not just Tricks in Da industry, they're intellectual individual. YOU GO GIRL!
9. Tribe Called Quest's "Low End Theory".Dis Lp was 1 of da first 2 define hip Hop w/ Straight Funky Beats. Who can Forget "Scenario" or "Date Rape". It was da tackling of Polical & Social Issues, without HardCore Vulgarity. " BAck in da days on da Boulevard...". It's da fun Ol' Skool Type Ish...
8. NWA's "Straight Outta Compton".Da BEginnin of Gansgta Rap. Pioneer for Snoop, MAck 10, Ras Kass, the whole West Coast & Gansgta Rap. IT Spread da Anger Dat REALLY rested In Da American Ghettos. U Can't HAte on Da Truth. whether U like it or NOt, it's still remains Da truth. So there it Was Da plain truth & Nuthin But, In Your Face!
7. BOne Thugs-n-HArmony's "East 1999". Well, they got all kind of Awards. Dis MUlti-Platinum Lp (let's get dis str8, 9x platinum) features da Hit "CrossRoads", it even surpassed da Beatles single on da charts. Is there really anything else 2 say about it? They brought back da fast pace rap, mixing r&b and Hip Hop all in One. Now everyone trying 2 rap like'em, so isn't imitation a form of flattery. U know they da Bomb!
6. Public Enemy...any Lp...They are da Hip Hop Politicians, and the Hip Hop nation needed a voice to speak of the Political Aspects. Fortunately we had PE, who still remain legends and pioneers to new peeps such as Dead Prez. We All know da Real deal about hip HOp. They said we wouldn't make it far, but 20 yrs later, We're still here. You know why: CAUSE OF HIP HOP POLITICAL PIONEERS SUCH AS PUBLIC ENEMY.
5. Wu-Tang Clan's "36 Chambers". When hip hop was on low, came Wu Tang. THey brought back those Kung Fu Movies Dat u know We all watched in the basements back in da days. I must mention da PHat Bassment Beats. U know they did those underground, and Dat just made it moRe hype!
It introduced some us 2 some serious HYpe Talent like MEthod MAn, Raekwon, Ol'Dirty, R-Za,....among some Kool otha Cats....
4. NOtorious BIG's "Ready To Die". Biggie re-established NY on da Hip Hop map. Before all dat shiny stuff dat Puffy brought out, he was a bomb producer. Making hype hits, him and his boy Biggie. Who can forget 'em tunes like "Juicy" or "Big Poppa"? That's right, everyone got love for Biggie and his debut Lp.
3. LL Cool J's "Mama said Knock you out". Now the main reason why I chose dis Lp is b/c dis cat is truly 1 of da greatest mc's of all time. Anyone dat has TRIED 2 diss him, just had to shut up in da end. U can never try to beat 1 of da great of all time. Hence his new LP G.O.A.T.. He's been here so long, and he still has all these fans. But I gots 2 quote him on dis on "don't call it a come back..." he was never gone in da first place, and dis lp just knocks u out, like what!
2. Tupac's "All Eyes On me". I guess u can call dis lp da dividing Lp of East & West coast Hip Hop. But just 2 be clear, da lyrical content on dis lp was so digustingly sick, it just wanted to make u throw up. Dis lP was da illest. 2pac takes his anger out on everybody & anybody while maintaining his true political self. He defines da mind of a young Black Hip HOpper conflicted with his past and his present. can't hate him for being who he was? The voice of our generation.
1. Dr.Dre's "Da Chronic". Dis is DA ILLEST LP & (can u tell) my favorite Lp of ALL time. Its the ISH! It brought out Snoop, Daz, Kurupt, Nate...and set Death Row, as the 1st and Biggest selling Black Record LAbel. THIS WAS DA BREAKTHROUGH RECORD. IT's funny, it's serious, it's sad, it's controversial...what more can you say.... All dat defines A great Record...and dis must be it y'all.
So, I hope u enjoy My Greatest Hip Hop record of all TIme, I had fun Writing it...Just remember dis is MY list, & if U don't agree, ain't nuthin I can do `bout it...
LAtes, and Peace to all the True Hip Hop heads out there!
1!
