| wendy3rd's Full Review: Point Of Grace |
I sing in church in the choir and I also sing solo or duets both in and out of church. When I choose a song I am looking for something that I want to listen to along with a song that has a really good message with it. I found that with Point of Grace; Steady On.
At first when I listened to this I loved the song Steady On, the first cut of this album, but did not care much for others until I got to Jesus Is. The reason for that is that the music is a bit overpowering to the vocals. I think there should be a label that says 'when you listen to this for the first time please have the words handy'. After listening to all of these songs several times without any outside interruption I found that they are all terrific!
The title cut, Steady On, reminds us in a very positive, uplifting way that we are to remain strong in our Christian beliefs as we go through our life. The words remind me of myself trying to get ahead of myself too often and I have to remember to slow down and take a deep breath once in a while as I remind myself of what I really want in life. And that would be to remain steady on as I strive through my own life until I get to eternity; which will be much longer than the life I am living now! We need to take life as it comes and enjoy each thing as it comes our way. There is good in all things, SOMEWHERE if we take the time to look for it. This is a very appealing song for anyone who likes faster music.
I am learning to sing "Jesus Is", the fourth cut on this CD, to sing at church now with another Christian friend of mine. This song reminds us that we are not to try and cram religion down anyone's throat; but to speak softly and let our life be our witness. Shouting at someone who doesn't understand our belief will never help them or me and I have always felt that way. We are to be a 'still, small voice and let the truth be heard' (in the song lyrics). A very positive, quick tempo song.
The tenth song, Saving Grace, at first totally meant nothing to me. UNTIL I took the time to listen to the words. This is a slower song with fast words...again I would caution anyone first listening to this to get the words out and follow along. This song is very inspirational and reminds us that we need to reach people where they are and not expect them to have some dramatic change overnight. None of us are perfect but we all live on this same earth; so it would be really nice if we could have some compassion for one another. Often in our society, people like Grace in this song feel like outcasts and stay to themselves, hurt and alone. It should not be that way, and we should reach out to all of the 'Graces' in the world as we would want others to reach out to us if/when we are the ones hurting. It just all makes sense.
I only chose those three to write this epinion on, hoping that others will be moved to hear these songs. As I said, the entire CD/album is well worth purchasing and after I learn all of these songs I will be looking for another Point of Grace CD to buy!
These four women have excellent, strong, soaring harmonies. It sounds like they take turns with background and lead vocals and it is very refreshing to hear! Each song's music is very unique and the beginning of each one is very different than any others on the market. The only thing about this, again, is that the music seems to overshadow the vocals. If I did not have the words that came printed in the CD I would not have known what a lot of those were. Point of Grace sings very inspirational music. I am very glad I bought this CD! The music itself is very soothing and then the words can speak to your heart and mind in a very positive way.
