I was listening to some old(er) Janet Jackson the other day, and it reminded me what a great artist (and diva) she is.
One of my favorite Janet songs is Love Will Never Do (Without You). So I found an old(er) copy of the song and let it spin a few times.
The song was originally from the Rhythm Nation 1814 album and can be found on Janet's greatest hits album Design Of A Decade; 1986-1996.
Love Will Never Do (Without You) is a very unique song. Janet Jackson has always given her music substance, and this song is no exception. It starts out slow for about 3 seconds, and becomes a loud, pulsating, relatively slow (but danceable) beat.
The first verse Janet is using her low alto/ high baritone voice. Then by the second verse she's using her high voice, which is a great transition.
As I said before, the song's format is very unique. After Janet sings the first two verses, she and a bunch of other people talk/rap
Love will never do
Never do without you
Love will never do
Never do without you.
Lyrically, the song is about how other people have told her that love does not last;
They said it wouldn't last
We had to prove them wrong
'cuz I've learned in the past
That love will never do without you
It's a song about overcoming differences, and proving others wrong. This song is my favorite Janet song, and I know you will like it too.
