The Misfits shared the ticket with support band GWAR, but were the last band of the show. After GWAR's less than memorable performance, it was time for the crowning glory to a decent evening. About half an hour after GWAR left the stage, we heard 'Kong at the Gates' through the speakers as Crimson Ghost wandered onto the set and released Dr. Chud from a cage housed beneath his spike-clad drum set. All of a sudden, both Jerry Only and Doyle storm onto the stage and begin a vicious assault of punk/metal laced mayhem...then walks in Michale Graves in a Scarecrow type hat that the evil dude from 'Nightmare on Elmstreet' wore.
It was a great ending to an evening that was just above dissapointing before the evil quartet with devillocks took stage. The live rendition of 'Saturday Night' was so great, I remembered it for days to come. The disco ball and 50's Prom atmosphere during that song were superb! Michale also confronted a fan who kept flicking him off during the early part of the show. When put on the spotlight, the idiot proclaimed undying loyalty toward Glenn Danzig and claimed that the Misfits sucked...upon which Michale told him to leave if he didn't like the band.
Sticking to their new material (mostly from 'American Psycho' and 'Famous Monsters') their play was flawless and memorable. I found a new respect for Glenn Danzig's replacement that night and a renewed love for my favorite Misfits.
