Pros: i find it spiffy Cons: you may find it squiffy
You know how sometimes you hear over and over again how exceptional an album is, and you put off buying it because you don't want to be disappointed, and when you finally do buy it, you find it's good, but it doesn't live up to the hype at all? Queens of ...

Pros: A simply amazing album from instruments to arrangement and from vocals and creativity. Cons: .
Songs for the Deaf renewed my faith in rock n roll. In 2002, the whole scene was well on its way to taking a permanent nose dive into oblivion. When all star outfit Queens of the Stone Age released their outstanding third album I was reminded of ...

Pros: continuing the queens of the stone age success story very nicely indeed Cons: if you think about it, they probably could've made a better job of some stuff
It's fairly apparent that most bands, when given any sort of positive attention from the mainstream music moguls (oooh, lovely alliteration there, and we've barely even started
), will adapt their sound in order to better suit the needs of their now ...

Pros: Fun, cool, rocking, experimental... Cons: Loses momentum after a while
We've heard enough about the turmoil inside Queens of the Stone Age. All I want to talk about here is the music because after breakups, makeups, quittings, firings, whatever, the music is all we're left with. QOTSA's follow-up to their stellar 2002 ...

Pros: A tremendously impressive rock album, captivating from start to finish Cons: One or two songs that fail to excite
Queens of the Stone Ages albums not only have some of the finest and most powerful rock songs you are likely to hear this millennium, but they also have these huge, sweeping and cavernous rock epics that are both simultaneously hypnotising as they ...

Pros: I like the first half or so an awful lot Cons: the second half, not so much
Much like many non-hipsters, I latched onto the Queens of the Stone Age bandwagon a couple years back with the release of the band's breakthrough, Songs For the Deaf (which I still haven't reviewed, amazingly). That album took a while for ...

Pros: Great for most of its length. Vocals, Instrumentation
m Cons: A few Songs fail to rise above mediocrity
As Im writing this I find myself sitting in a car driving almost the length of England (London to Manchester) to watch a football (soccer) match. Im sure you can guess how utterly boring this is. Thankfully I happen to have bought with me the ...

Pros: It feels like the woods. At night. On another planet. While you're drunk. Cons: The Music overpowers the vocals in a few songs. Some generic lyrics.
(I'm too tired to think so let's pretend I just went on for six paragraphs in detail as to why I love Queens of the Stone age and this album is respectively just as good as their former release Songs for the Deaf and OK GO:) Lullabies to ...

Pros: Many excellent songs, a nice amount of musical variety, experimentation. Cons: Unfortunately, this experimentation winds up being rather hit-or-miss.
Queens Of The Stone Age is the kind of band whose greatness stems largely from their simplicity. Their songs never show a great deal of technical wankery nor pompously poetic lyrics. They simply play classic no-nonsense rock and roll. Accessible but not ...

Pros: Good variety, well produced, flows almost perfectly from track to track, Cons: Oliveri's talent is missed, not much else.
After the last Queens of the Stone Age album "Songs for the Deaf", many people thought it would be hard to follow up with something as good, if not better than that CD. This CD does not dissapoint. Sure, you may be thinking Dave Grohl's absence on ...

Pros: diverse; complex yet accessible; no songs fail to live up to their potential Cons: almost guaranteed not to please everyone on every track
Well, I guess there's no avoiding it. Everybody's got to talk about it. The band has changed. Nick Oliveri, bassist and vocalist on QOTSA's second and third album, was fired in 2004. Note that he wasn't on the first album. Well, he did appear on the ...

thank god
by evolutionrules ,Mar 26 '05
Pros: flawless sound and recording. Cons: not as trippy as "rated r"
thank god they (josh) didn't screw this up. that was my apprehension building up to the release of this cd. i had "found" queens through an interview with eddie vedder and went back and bought their first two cds along with "songs". Love the first two. haven't given songs a real chance yet because i can't stop listening to #1 and #2 (rated r). so i was nervous about the new one but...josh is becomming a great artist. you can just hear the growth in this guy. i remember listening to vitalogy by pearl jam and thinking "wow, these guys have reached a new level". qotsa have turned a corner. i love the direction they're going. i don't miss nick (the bassist), josh has made this band his own. interesting to listen to the progression of their music from cd #1 to cd #4. i'm very happy:)
