There is a trend currently running rampant in Hollywood,young actresses trying to become singers. Lindsay Lohan's first album "Speak" is escaping the usual disastrous results of this trend and proving herself to be a talented musical performer. The fact that Lohan was allowed to be herself,rather than being pushed into some mold of the typical "teen pop" artist is clearly why this album works. That and the fact that she can actually sing.

The album is definitely a rock album. No sugary teeny-bopper music here. Songs like "Rumors" prove that. For me Speak brings back memories of Pat Benetar and Chrissy Hynde. Lohan could be establishing herself as a part of an elite group,but only time will tell.

The most expensive copy of this album that I was able to find was selling for $17.00,and it is worth every dime.
