Mirror, Mirror on the wall. Here's my top 10 of them all

Aug 19 '00 (Updated Dec 05 '00)

I have watched many animated films over my lifetime, so it was hard to narrow it down to my top 10 favorite of all time. After looking through my collection, of 60 plus animated movies. Remembering which ones I have enjoyed, and gave me the most memories, I have finally narrowed it down to 10.

My tenth favorite animated movie of all time is...

"Toy Story"

Toy Story is about a boy named Andy, who gets a new toy for his birthday. Andy's favorite toy up to now has been Woody. But, when Buzz Lightyear arrives, Woody gets jealous. With all the commotion of the two trying to get rid of each other, they end up in the neighbors yard. A boy named Sid, who likes to dismember his toys, finds them. Now it is up to Buzz and Woody to save the other toys from being tortured. Meanwhile Andy and his mother are moving away, and Woody and Buzz get left behind. Now Woody and Buzz must band together and find their way back to Andy.

Toy Story is a great movie, and computers digitally make the animation. The songs are wonderful; especially "You Got a Friend in me".

Toy Story is one of my favorites because of the wonderful animation. Tim Allen and Tom Hanks do a wonderful job as Buzz Lightyear and Woody. Toy Story also tells the story of friendship and loyalty.

My ninth favorite animated movie of all time is...

"Dumbo"

Dumbo starts of with The Stork dropping of babies' to parents who are expecting new bundles of joy. When Ms. Jumbo gets her bundle of joy Jumbo Jr., everyone laughs because Jumbo has big ears, nicknaming him "Dumbo". But, his mommy could care less, and loves him just the same. When a little boy makes fun of Dumbo, Ms. Jumbo defends her son, and gets locked up for it. With the help of Timothy Mouse, Dumbo learns he has the ability to fly. Dumbo becomes the star of the circus, and is later reunited with his mother.

The song "Baby Mine" is great, and makes you tear up every time. It shows the love a mother has for her child. The animation is bright and nicely detailed.

Dumbo is one of my favorites because it teaches you shouldn't judge someone on how they look. It also shows the love of a mother for her son, and she will do anything to protect her child.

My eighth favorite animated movie of all time is...

"The Land Before Time"

The Land Before Time begins when an earthquake hits and separates the land into 7 continents. Families are separated from each other, and must travel day after day to reunite. They must also find food, so many head off to The Great Valley, where they have room to play, and plenty of food and water. Littlefoot's journey begins when a tragic event leaves him alone, and most find The Great Valley and his grandparents. On his journey he meets Cera, Ducky, Spike, and Petrie. The friends encounter a volcano and a Sharptooth on the way to The Great Valley.

The animation is great. The dinosaurs are beautifully drawn. The few songs throughout the movie are great.

The Land Before Time is one of my favorites because the cute dinosaurs. Also, because the story teaches friendship, and if you help each other out, you can do anything you set your mind to.

My seventh favorite animated movie of all time is...

"Lion King 2: Simba's Pride"

Lion King 2: Simba's Pride starts out with Simba teaching his daughter, Kiara what she needs to know before the day comes and she takes the throne as Queen of Pride Rock. But, all Kiara wants to do is play and have fun. When Kiara journeys out on her own to the Outlands, and she runs into Kovu, whom will one day take over his land. When Simba sees Kovu and Kiara falling in love, the banished Outlanders and Simba's pride start feuding. Now it's up to Kiara and Kovu to stop the feuding once in for all, between the two groups.

Lion King 2: Simba's Pride has 6 new songs wonderful songs. The animation is beautiful and breathtaking.

The Aristocats is the story of a millionairess and her high society cats. Duchess and her 3 kittens, are abandoned after the butler, Edgar overhears the whole estate is being left to the cats. Hoping if the cats aren't around, Edgar drops them off far from home, in the French countryside, so he will inherit the estate. Duchess and her kittens meet Thomas O'Malley, a homeless tomcat who helps them get home. Along the way Duchess and Thomas fall in love, they listen to music by Scat Cat at Thomas' hang-out. Also, along the way they meet Abigail and Amelia, two geese, and Uncle Waldo, a drunken goose, and many other friends along the way.

Again the music is wonderful. The song "Ev'rybody Wants To Be A Cat" is wonderful, and adds to the movie. The animation is nicely detailed, and colorful.

The Aristocats is one of my favorites mostly because I love cats. Duchess and her kittens are adorable.

Now it's up to Quasi to save Esmeralda, Febis and the city from being destroyed by a fire set by Frolo. Along the way the city discovers how kind and gentle Quasimodo is.

The music is wonderful, and adds beauty. The animation is colorful, and detailed.

With the help of the Genie, Aladdin is transformed into Prince Ali, so he can win the heart of Princess Jasmine. But, Jafar has other plans in store. Eventually, Aladdin sees Jasmine wants Aladdin, not Prince Ali.

The animation is beautifully detailed. The music is wonderful, and adds beauty to the story.

Aladdin is one of my favorites because the music is wonderful. I also like the story being told, you should love the person, not what they look like, or what they own.

My third favorite animated movie of all time is...

"The Pagemaster"

Now Pagemaster is not all animated, the first 15 minutes, and last 5 minutes is real action.

The Pagemaster is the story of Richard Tyler overcoming his fears, with the help of 3 "book friends". When Richard takes shelter in a library, from the thunderstorm outside, his adventure in fantasy, adventure, and horror is about to begin.

Tyler must travel through the land of make believe, to make his way back home, while facing many obstacles along the way. Tyler and his "book friends" fight a fire-breathing dragon, make their way through Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde's mansion, meet the pirates of Treasure Island, any many other adventures along the way. Tyler at last makes it to the exit, meeting up with The Pagemaster, who congratulates Tyler on his quest to face his fears. Tyler can now face his fears as he makes his way home, with his fellow "book friends".

The animated action is beautifully detailed. The live-action added at the beginning is wonderful. The music played in the movie adds to the stories being told.

The Pagemaster is one of my favorites because I like the characters in the animated part of the movie. I also like how the "book" characters come to life.

After a wise baboon Rafiki, shows Simba his father with him, he goes back to take his place as king.

The music played throughout the movie, is beautiful and adds to the story unfolding. The animation is colorful, and beautifully done. The Lion King teaches kids loyalty, respect for all creatures, and friendship.

The Lion King is one of my favorites because of the beautiful animation, great soundtrack, and the beautiful story of a son's love for his father even after he is gone. Also the story of Simba being loyal to his father's wish for him to becomes King.

My number one favorite animated movie of all time is...

"The Fox and the Hound"

The two are best friends, until the day when "Tod" wounds "Chief", who is "Copper's" friend, during a hunting trip. Now the old lady who has taken care of "Tod" since he was a baby fox, must make the difficult decision of taking "Tod" back home, to the forest. It is the forest "Tod" meets the beautiful "Vixey", and they fall in love.
