Top 10 Animated Films!!

With all the animated films out there, I really had to think long and hard as to which I enjoyed the most. Some of my decisions were based on the way my kids reacted to the movies, but they are all mostly my favorites for one reason or another. I just made a long list of as many animated films I could think of, checked out a few movie sites to remind me of others I forgot about, and then about the task of deciding, one by one, which movie (if only one) would I truly want to see. So here is my list of my Top Ten All Time Favorite Animated Films.
10. The Jungle Book (1967)
Watching Mowgli grow up, surrounded by wonderful animal characters, and a lot of really great music, lands the Jungle Book at number 10. My favorite character being Balloo. He was fun, enjoyed life, and even taught a lesson or two along the way. And boy can he sing and dance. Bear Necessities still runs through my head at times, it's one of those tunes that can get stuck in your head for a while.
9. Charlotte's Web (1973)
Although a lot more sad of a film than the others on my list, Charlotte's Web has always been a favorite. Wilbur is a pig that knows what the end of the season brings for his futures and is determined to changed his fate. He has many talents, and a lot of really good friends. His best friend being Charlotte, a spider that spins words of praise in her webs about Wilbur. But my favorite personality has got to be Templeton the Rat. He is very self centered and loves to eat. But when it comes down to helping a friend, he's there.
8.Toy Story (1995)
The first computer animated film, Toy Story was certainly a leader in it's own right. And with Tom Hanks as the voice of Woody and Tim Allen as the voice of Buzz Lightyear, who wouldn't want to see this flick? The tortuous life of being an (ex) favorite toy sends Woody and Buzz Lightyear on a little adventure of their own. Heading into the house of the destructive boy next door certainly keeps you wondering if the boy or the dog will get them first.
7. The Lion King (1994)
The music in the Lion King must be what keeps me coming back for more. That and Timon and Pumba, the stupid little side kick's to Simba. Their "live life to the fullest" attitude really brightens the mood that Simba is in after his father, Mufasa (James Earl Jones) is murdered. Scar (Jeremy Irons) is definitely an evil force to be dealt with and the audience always loves to truly hate the bad guy.
6. Robin Hood (1973)
The original classic turned in a tale of animals. Our dear Robin Hood is a fox! No really, he has the reddish fur and poofy tail and all! I just love the characters in this film. And Prince John is just a bug puss! He sucks his thumb! But of course the real story is on Robin Hood, stealing from the rich to help the poor. As for the Sheriff of Nottingham ... he's just plain mean and obnoxious.
5. The Little Mermaid (1989)
This story of a girl (well a mermaid girl actually) who believes that the grass on the other side of the beach is greener. Ariel, wanting to join the ranks of the leggy human, goes to the sea-witch, Ursula, to make a deal. She gives up her beautiful singing voice for a chance to be among those that walk. Of course, with all villians, Ursula has plans. Of course, the man she fell in love with, fell in love with her too. But he only knows her voice. I loved how she had to fight for the man she loved without the one thing that he knew her by. The music is light and airy through most of the movie giving it a rather romantic mood.
4. Beauty & The Beast (1991)
Who doesn't love a love story, magic spells, and fantastic music? Beauty & The Beast brings all of these into one great movie. Belle is a real book worm, but when her father's life is threatened she ends up finding herself at a castle. That is where she meets the Beast and his entire staff. They have all been cursed and changed. The staff has been changed into household items like teasets, candlabras, and dressers. As Belle gets to know them better she finds out what is in their hearts, as well as her own.
3. Aladdin (1992)
This great film not only has Robin Williams as the Genie, and a wonderful job he does, but they also have the wonderful toe tapping music. My daughter has memorized half the songs! But one of the unique things about Aladdin is the adult humor that is constantly thrown in here and there. It is still a fun movie for kids, but it adds an extra kick for the "big kids" too.
2. The Rescuers (1977)
Bianca and Bernard are quite a pair! She is a lofty little mouse from this higher side of society, while is just a lowly janitor for the Rescue Aid Society. When they find a message in a bottle that is a cry for help from a young girl named Penny these two do everything they can to find her and help her. She has been kidnapped by Madame Medusa, wanting to use her to go down into dark caves to find a large diamond. Bianca and Bernard come across a wonderful cast that helps them track her down and rescue her.
1. Rikki Tikki Tavi (1975)
This IS my all time favorite animated film. If you've never had a chance to see it, it is available on VHS now. :-) It is about a mongoose that nearly drowns. A family finds him and saves him. As he lives with them a different family moves into the area. A family of cobras. They are constantly terrorizing the animals and soon turn to larger conquests ... the humans. But Rikki Tikki Tavi has no intention of allowing his family to be hurt. The producers did a wonderful job with RTT and all the animal characters in this show (yes, even the snakes). RTT moves very quickly and you'll often find his little whiskers twitching when something is wrong. I would highly recommend this movie to any family, young or old.
