From the moment that had seen the previews for this movie in the theaters some months ago, I was extremely anxious to see it. Jennifer Lopez and Vince Vaughn, lead this movie into a scary and dark look into a psycho killers mind. I wanted to love this movie. Here is a brief summary of the premise of the movie.
This movie has been called, “a mix between the Matrix and Silence of The Lambs.” I feel differently. I don’t see how this can be prepared to the Matrix, but definitely Silence of The Lambs. Well, decide for yourself. Jennifer Lopez plays a children’s therapist that enters people’s minds to figure out there problems. In one case, she enters a Childs mind that is in a coma. This was the only way to communicate with the boy. Vince Vaughn plays an F.B.I. agent that is on a case to find a vicious murderer that tortures his victims before he drowns them. Jennifer and Vince work together to find out where his last victim was. It is a race against time to find her. Jennifer enters the murderers mind, while Vince follows the information and tries to find her. To tell you the truth, I really didn’t get into the movie until about and hour into it. But that last forty something minutes, made it up, and then some. Is The Cell everything that you were hoping for? Lets see how it stacks up. Ratings from one to five stars.
Visual Effects
*****
Man, I was blown away by how real and surreal these images were. More than half of the movie is visual effects, so it means a lot of this to work for the film. This movie had some of the best visual effects that I have ever seen. This helps you believe that you are with her, throughout this journey. It’s a whole new world and they describe it pictorially with huge success
Story
*****
As you may have read from the summary of the movie I made, you can just tell that this movie has a very interesting story. Believe me, you will love it even more if you see it. They go into a mind of a psycho killer, what more do you want?
Cast
*****
Jennifer Lopez, and Vince Vaughn, work very well together. The few scenes they have together are great. Some people believe that Jennifer Lopez shouldn’t be taken seriously when it comes to acting, but let me tell you, she was great in the movie. Vince Vaughn is one of my favorites; he was in such movies as Jurassic Park 2, The New Psycho and he has also been in many independent films that I have seen and he was wonderful in.
Overall
****
That’s right, it’s not a perfect score, but I have a reason. This is one flaw that I felt was a little overboard. Now, I understand that it was necessary to have this, but I didn’t like it. When they searched the killers mind, it was extremely morbid and dark. Almost like that bad dream that you would never want to have again. Everything scary and sick happened here, I don’t want to make you throw-up so I won’t mention anything. This is something that people feel differently about. If you aren’t squeamish, than you will have no problem with it. I can take some stuff, and I still had a hard time with these scenes. This movie was scary, weird, and freaky but ultimately, amazing!
The Bottom Line: This movie is easily one of my favorites of all time. I would highly recommend you to see this movie right away.
