American Beauty delivers the MEANING of LIFE

American Beauty is one of the most brilliant films ever made. Director Sam Mendes and screenwriter Alan Ball, joined forces to show us how life should be lived. The movie uses first person narrative to explain the story. Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey) tells the story of the great change in his life and eventually his death. The great change that happened to him was the realization that he was not happy. He hated his job, his wife and his relationship with his daughter. What Lester decides, is that he better start doing the things that he wants to do. To complement his character, Scott Bakula is brought in as the neighbors son who sees beauty in everything. He meets up with Lester at a party and gets him high. From then on Lester and Bakula hang out together often and enjoy life. Bakula is attracted to Lester because of the great beauty he sees in him. He sees a man who is enjoying his life and not giving a care about what other people think about him. That is the secret that this movie has to offer us. Live life to its fullest and enjoy everything around you.
