Pros: empowering message brilliantly conveyed by strong characterisation and acting Cons: rather sterile, occasionally tedious, no actual narrative as such
Neil Jordan's "Company of Wolves" (1984), based on the stories of Angela Carter, is a dream within a dream, a film of fantasy anecdotes, and is not driven by a narrative as such. It concerns a mid day's dream of young adolescent ...

Pros: Stylized, exotic sets; horror combined with psychosexual implications of werewolf myths; excellent performances Cons: The dreamlike quality of the film may frustrate those looking for narrative clarity
Here's a horror film that is simultaneously thrilling and an intelligent examination of the psychosexual implications of werewolf myths. It's one of the most visually sumptuous films you'll ever come across. The Company of Wolves was the work of ...

Pros: Great acting from Patterson and the make up effects are top notch. Cons: Couldn't really make sense of anything, but I eventually gave up on that.
"The Company of Wolves" is probably the better of the "updated 'Little Red Ridinghood'" movies, and it's a little bit odd that there are enough films to make that a separate category. I like how this movie has a real folklore feel to some of it, with ...

Pros: Some very nice sets, and an interesting story Cons: Dated, slightly disjointed
"Fear and flee the wolf; for, worst of all the wolf may be more than he seems" said Angela Carter in her story "The company of wolves", which she (and director Neil Jordan) latter adapted into the screenplay for this...

Pros: Angela Lansbury, Sex, Werewolves..Oh My! Cons: None
Flipping the channels the other night, I caught the glimpse of a beautiful young lady being attacked by wolves and had to stop. The channel was the Superstation, and this movie was Billy Bob's horror choice for the night. I spent the rest of the night...

Pros: Myth-making imagery, dialogue, sets, mind-twists. Cons:
Very loose storyline. Makeup effects tend to overreach themselves.
A dreamlike, dark, adults-only riff on classic fairy-tale motifs (especially "Little Red Riding Hood") this artistic horror feature is a must-see for fans of the macabre and adventurous cinema. The loose narrative is indeed framed as a dream being had...

Pros: Powerful, beautiful, Jungian Cons: Sometimes bloody and disturbing
Directed by Neil Jordan, (The Crying Game, Interview with the Vampire, The Butcher Boy). Adapted with Angela Carter from her book The Bloody Chamber, a collection of dark, dense, literate fairy tales.
Despite being cluttered by...

Pros: Good Scenery and Acting and blah blah Cons: Story Time....
I rented this movie because I read the short story by Angela Carter...well the movie kinda rambles off in some tangent ...but other than that it followed it pretty well (of course I'm pretty sure they won't let Lil Red Riding Hood Sleep with the Wolf in...
