Pros: Perfectly paced film with incredible scenery Cons: Nothing worth noting.
Dances with wolves is one of those films that I watch over and over and get a sense of what life may have been for a lone soldier in the west and for the "savages" that lived on the lands of the great American Plains and the Badlands. It wasn't until ...

Pros: story, acting, cinematography, accuracy Cons: seems to take a turn toward action flick near the end
The story of the Native Americans as written by the movie industry over the last hundred years or so was mostly one of savagery where they were portrayed as the enemy. In almost every film Native Americans were the bad guys, attacking settlers ...

Pros: The cast, the score, scenery, script, acting and the directing were all outstanding! Cons: None...
John Dunbar: The strangeness of this life cannot be measured: in trying to produce my own death, I was elevated to the status of a living hero. Dances With Wolves is without a doubt one of the best movies ever made. I get this ...

Pros: Beautiful western scenery, awesome bison hunts, cool Sioux Indians! Cons: Kevin Costner is annoying and the politically-correct plot is simplistic and unconvincing
This film, in case you haven't heard, is basically about an 1860s cavalry officer who goes to the frontier and ends up joining the Sioux Indians. I have mixed feelings about this movie. On the one hand, the South Dakota landscapes, the bison hunts, and ...

Pros: emotional, well-acted, intense, dramatic Cons: none
Last night I watched this movie on the History channel. I had seen it before when it first came out, loved it then, but had not thought about it in a while. After the first scenes the entire movie came back to me, and I regretted waiting so long to...

Pros: Great music by John Barry Cons: violence
Kevin Costners’s Academy Award –winning masterpiece- Dances With Wolves.
This is a movie with a great heart and one of the most original and best movies of all time. Seldom does a movie make the impression that Dance with Wolves...

Pros: Historically accurate (probably); excellent production values; great performances; touching story. Cons: A little melodramatic at times; 30 - 60 minutes too long; a bit preachy.
"Dances With Wolves" is touching and well made and has all the makings of a classic: full of drama and passion; understanding and communication,;and violence and power. Kevin Costner directed, produced, and stars in this epic tale about John Dunbar, a ...

Pros: cinematography, authenticity of Sioux, editing Cons: white soldiers as vermin, narration, dull romance, slow moving
Kevin Costner put his own money on the line for the epic western Dances with Wolves. Except for the Young Guns films, westerns were long since out of cinematic fashion. The last true blockbuster was probably Blazing Saddles, (1974) a...

Pros: Fascinating story. Superb acting. Gorgeous cinematography and unforgettable score. Cons: May have a tad too much violence for some people.
Brilliant. Moving. Unforgettable.
These are really but a few of the words that come to mind when I think about this film. I wasn't able to fully appreciate this film until several years after its release, namely because I was young and at the...

Pros: Wide panoramas, Sioux language, people and costumes; buffalo and horse scenes Cons: Costner perhaps a tad too touchy-feely; Mary McConnell spoke "white" too well, too quickly
I'd recently watched a lot of documentaries shot in Tuva, Mongolia, Siberia and Lapland because of folkmusic interests. The striking feature of all these peoples is their amazing resemblance to the American Indians. In their faces, they have the extra...

Pros: Great story about tolerance ,peace and love Cons: Kevin Costner's narratives are monotonous and dry
I've never been a huge fan of Kevin Costner, at least, not of his acting ability. He is often dry and monotonous, and usually plays the same characters over and over again. The sort of unpopular, but sexy man who eventually attracts people with his wit...

Pros: Couldn't get enough Cons: Can't think of any
Some may say that "Dances with Wolves" was too long. I don't think it was long enough. The drawing power of Kevin Costner alongwith an American Indian theme sucked me right into the theater to see this movie. It was funny! It was sad!...

Pros: Beautiful cinematography, outstanding score, astonishing story Cons: Shame on us!
I seldom need to view a movie in the theatre as I hate to go anywhere my feet stick to the floor. But, when I saw the previews of Dances With Wolves, well, I just new that was one to be seen on the big screen (like Close Encounters and Star Wars). If...

Pros: Incredible Scenery, Great Acting (especially Costner, Mary McDonnell, and Graham Greene) and an incredible story. Cons: It IS a long movie. And the end will leave you with mixed emotions.
THIS is the Hollywood Success Story! Not the movie alone, but the sheer fact that one man had the determination to see it made, and then saw it be the success nobody believed it would be... except the man himself!
Kevin Costner is that man......

Pros: Pretty to look at. Cons: Painful to watch
I used to be a fan of Kevin's, really I was. Field of Dreams, Bull Durham, Silverado - loved 'em.
But, I think I'm the only one in the world that truly hated this movie.
Oh, don't get me wrong, it IS a beautifully shot film to be...
