| msposner's Full Review: Wall Street Journal |
With the great surge that modern economy is experiencing, especially within the stock market, many sources of periodical literature have popped up all over the places, both online and on newsstands.
However, Wall Street Journal is one of those financial newspaper that has been around longer than most of the others and they really do pride themselves as an "investment". I recently renewed my subscription and on the enclosed card, it said something along the like of, 'Investing in the Wall Street Journal is like investing for life.'
Obviously, this is a newspaper primed for investors and individuals who work closely in the business sector. It won't contain lengthy articles about local affairs or recent tragedies (unless it either profoundly impact businesses or helps sell a few extra copies).
What's really enjoyable about this magazine is how they occasionally would run articles that are refreshingly off-the-point. For instance, a recent article dealt with the professionalism of having facial hair.
What really makes it a worthwhile read are the front-page stories- most of the stories happen to be a lot more interesting to read about than listening to the same old things that are repeated daily on the evening news:
"Man hit by a car... currently at the hospital in critical condition..."
"Local tenants having problems with the landlord over conditions..."
The Wall Street Journal is recognized for their excellent coverage of the stock market- an acclaim that I couldn't agree with more. Inside the investor's section, there are in-depth charts with complete information (hi/lo, % increase/decrease, dividends, etc.) and in addition to that, there are plenty of articles regarding upcoming changes in known companies (hint, hint: stock tips alert...).
The primary reason why I subscribe to this newspaper over other financial newspaper is because of reputation and for the well-written, concise articles. One other thing about their interesting articles: surprisingly enough, they have topics that even young investors such as I would be interested in. For instance, in yesterday's edition, there was an interview with the CEO of MTV.
Overall, no financial magazine is always right on targets with their stock picks- no matter what, the stock market will always be unpredictable. But in the long run, Wall Street Journal might be your best guide because of how successful they are with keeping the readers abreast of current business news and outstanding stock coverage.
