| sfommelt's Full Review: Des Moines Register |
The Des Moines Register has been one of America's leading newspapers for over a century, and its is the paper I read daily because of that coverage.
The Register's news coverage is always comprehensive and well balanced. There team of writers and photojournalists is large and skilled. At times, the coverage can be overly weighted toward urban issues, but the urban population has become the Register's major reader base in the last 20 years.
Editorials are always concise, well researched and well written, although they tend to be very liberal at times. Columnists for the Register are very diverse, and are interesting writers.
The layout and design of the Register are its strong points. With its new presses (started in 2000) the Register is one of the most visually pleasing papers to read, and the new ink doesn't rub off either!
Overall, the Register is one of this country's best newspapers.
