Strida Folding Bicycle

by rohaianan , May 13 '03
Pros: Strida is easy to fold. It folds in 3steps. Transport it like a baby stroller.
Cons: Does not hold up well, parts break pretty easily. Parts are all proprietary.
I bought this bike last year. The order process was easy and Strida offers a very generous money back guaranty.
I paid about $500 for the bike. At first I received a bike that appeared to be used. I contacted Strida and they quickly sent me a new...

Not perfect but really close

by chainstrainer , Oct 31 '07
Pros: Simplicity, utility, ease-of-use and high quality of design and build.
Cons: Takes some getting used to.
The Strida 5.0, like its predecessors, is a quick four-step process to fold and unfold. Some have quoted a 6-second time lapse though I find to be a bit longer - still quick nonetheless. It may not be as compact in folded form as other origami bikes ...

Strida-3 folding bike

by ekprufrock , Jun 25 '06
Pros: Light, easy to fold, easy to get in and out of public transport, eye catching
Cons: Not fast, no up-hill rides, often noisy belt, difficult to fix if broken
I have been using this bike for 8 months occasionally and for the last two months regularly. This bike is a hit! It's ridiculously easy to fold, it's light, it rides in a decent speed (but not fast), there is no need to carry it folded but you rather ...

Tony

by tonyturbo , Apr 26 '02
Pros: Portable, sleek, fun, light, conversational
Cons: The company sucks
Its a great single speed foldable bike. The best. compacts nicely, fun to ride, great. exspensive but worth it- solid bike.

It sometimes feels like you need a bigger gear but for riding to and from work less than 2 miles or so- this is the...

Superb piece of kit

by jennyb-uk , Jun 28 '05
Pros: Reliable, lightest folder, clean, greaseless on subway/planes, so quickly unfolded you'll really use it.
Cons: Comfortable, but not meant for marathons. Allow time to adjust to the high handlebar pivot.
This bike gets away with anything. It folds in three clicks and hides away (greaselessly) in cloakrooms, on planes, on trams and buses. In between storage and riding, although it's the lightest folder around, you don't even have to carry it. You can ...

Strida 3
by sk8erboi ,Sep 29 '06
Pros: Light, 6 seconds fold, it rolls on its wheels when folded never carry.
Cons: Gets a lot of attention ! I wish the company would advertise more.
Awsome ! Looks great AND works great !
I bought it from the Strida.com web site. I was abit worried having not tried one, but it comes with a 60 day return policy so I figured at worse I'd get a 60 day rental. In fact its one of the best products I've ever bought and wouldn't be without it. I've had folding bikes before and they are all too heavy, too big or hard to fold etc. but this just does what you expect. I'd use it for any journey of upto 20 miles, but its main use is in combination with other transport eg Trains, aircraft and buses.... just unfold at the end to get to final destination. In 6 months no problems whatsoever. HIGHLY recomended.

best folding bike of the 3 i owned. manhattan born and raised
by zevkirsh ,Sep 14 '07
Pros: compact, rollable, NO MAINTANANCE, NO GREASE TO dirty YOUR PANTS.
Cons: SLOW---BUT IT'S FOR COMMUTING NOT SWEATING!
if you are a bicyclist who has more than 1 bike, and wants a bike for commuting in an urban area for less than a 4 mile commute that is not hilly, this is the BEST bike.

this bike folds super quick. and it can be rolled on it's wheels so if you take it in the subway , it need not be carried, it rolls smoothly and fast because the wheels magnetically click together.

the bike does not need any maintanance as there are no gears and internal hub breaks. if the bike breaks in any way, the company will replace it. finally, this bike is very sturdy compared with other folding bikes in the compact category. my main beef with smallish folding bikes meant for urban areas is that the joints are weak.

finally, it looks cool and you will get lots of looks.

last, the riding posisiton is high and the wheelbase is short, so the bike is 1) very upright and you wil be above cars 2) highly maneuverable in traffic ( read twitchy handling )

Strida3 folding bike
by siber7 ,Dec 29 '04
Pros: Light, belt drive, fast fold and can be wheeled along when folded. Good value.
Cons: Many custom parts, looks different - gets attention (even when not wanted). Internet only.
This bike is brilliant ! Great fun, really light (under 10Kg) and well designed - really good to push along when folded.
I bought direct from Strida.com. To help with commuting using the train. When it arrived I had to put cranks on, put seat on and adjust to height (tools included). Everything else was ready to ride. Folding action is very easy - in 5 seconds and 2 simple movements the complete bike is folded into a stick, so that you can push it along like luggage - so you never have to carry it. It felt different to ride at first - a very upright riding position, but I soon got used to this. The belt drive is great on the train as there are no oily bits. The only negatives are; it is a bit conspicuous - as it looks so unusual riding along on a big triangle ! and it is single speed. I expected to miss gears but now prefer the simplicity of not having to worry about which one to choose.
