Hiking advice

I am not really a hiker, but I live at the Hiker's Heaven, the Grand Canyon. I've seen people try and hike the canyon in a pair of high heels, I've seen other people start going down with out any supplies, like one of the important ones, water.
I think if I ever get enough time to go hike the Grand Canyon, I would know what to do and take. First of all, pack light. Do not pack for a four day hike if it is a two day hike. Why? Because you are the one that has to carry all of this gear and supplies. Pack just enough clothes and food. Bring along extra water, just in case something happens where you need the water. Bring along a tent and a sleeping pad if you are going to be taking more than a day hike.
The most important thing to remember when hiking at the Grand Canyon. Do NOT hike during the mid-day. It is not so hot at the top of the canyon, but once you start going down into the canyon, the temperatures will rise, quickly. I suggest to hike in the early morning and later afternoons. If you are tired, stop, do not over due yourself and break, pull, or strain something.
When hiking the Grand Canyon there are a lot of the trails right along cliffs and steep walls. Be careful on where you your next step is, or you will be getting to the bottom of the canyon a little quicker than you hoped. The only way to get back up out of the canyon when you are hurt is by helicopter, and it is not cheap.
So, if you are coming to the Grand Canyon and plan on hiking, take my advice and be careful.
