Front Suspension

I have just purchased a Front Suspension Mountain Bike from a leading Manufacturer. I was dubious at buying a bike with suspension due to articles I have read. Suspension bikes have not had a good history to to their reliability, however things have changed.

I used to do a lot of biking when I was younger and am getting back to that way of life now. I mainly cycle on off road trial and generally like downhill courses/trails. I chose to buy a bike with front suspension for mainly comfort and stability.

My Step By Step Guide.

1. Firstly think of what you will be using the bike for and be honest with yourself. If you will mainly be using the bike on road do you need suspension?. Suspension bikes are expensive.

2. Establish what style bike you will be looking for and what things are most important for you. Do you feel more comfortable with certain gear systems or brake designs.

3. When looking at bikes and before you purchase the bike, make sure that you try different size frames. If you do not choose a suitable size frame you will not feel comfortable or confident.

4. Most Importantly check to see what warranty and guarantee the store of manufacturer are offering or your new bike. Make sure you keep your receipt with your guarantee in a safe place.

Since I purchased my bike I have tested on an off - road course/trail downhill. The bike instantly felt comfortable and I felt confident and positive controlling it. I did find that the front suspension helped with the stability of the bike and took the shock out of some large bumps. I will be upgrading to a full suspension bike soon, when I have had a lot more practice.
