Product Details
Texas Point NWR, located in the Chenier Plain of the upper Texas Gulf Coast provides habitat for a variety of birds, mammals, reptiles and aquatic lifeforms. Concentrations in excess of 50,000 ducks have been recorded with 23 species represented. One duck species of special interest is the resident mottled duck, which nests here and uses the coastal marshes year-round. The refuge woodlots provide resting and feeding habitat for migrating neotropical birds, and can provide excellent birding opportunities during peak periods of songbird migration in April. Waterfowl hunting and fishing account for the majority of public use. Birding has become increasingly popular during the spring and winter months.
