Try Betta's Great first fish!

Someone once told me that fish were a very relaxing pet and help ease stress by watching them swim around the tank. My husband and I thought this was a great idea and decided OK lets get some fish. Well it was more stressing trying to figure what fish to get and what fish went together and what we needed to buy so they would actually live past the first night with us.
I then saw these really cool fish each swimming individually in these really cool looking glass bowls. I asked the lady at the fish shop what they were and was told that they were Betta fish. They are a Japanese fighting fish and you cannot keep two males together because they will fight. We were also told they were very easy to care for. We got hooked because of the beautiful colors these fish were.
I picked out a really cool fish that was red, blue and purple. I then bought a big glass bowl for him and some decorative plastic flowers. (I bought a light shade of pink that looked really good next to him). We also got some dark pink rocks for the bottom of the tank. We also got some Tetra Blood worms for feed and some Jungle Right Start to treat the fish's water.
I then went to the grocery store and bought him some bottled water that was room temperature and then put together his aquarium then put him in the water in his plastic bag and slowly let him out after a while so as not to shock him to his new water, I also placed his water he came in the bowl as well. You have to put in a few drops of the Jungle Right Start to treat the Beta's water.
We named our Betta Shadow. He looked so cute in his BIG bowl (he got one much bigger then what he was in, in the pet shop) He would swim in and out of his flowers and up and down and I have to admit watching this little creature was very calming. Sadly, he died about 6 months after we got him but I did enjoy our time together.
I do recommend this for a first fish and they teach you how to care for them and to see if you are really ready to go to the next step with a real aquarium of fish. The Betta's water only needed to be changed once a week and was really easy to do.
