I love ya, Sid, but you're too smart for me!!

I recently got ANOTHER bird (that makes five!), but this one is a Quaker Parrot, not a parakeet. He gets along with my parakeets just fine, even though he enjoys playing with their tails!
I play with my birds all the time, which I think is very important. They all come out in the morning before I leave and right after I get home, and they greatly enjoy being "outside". The parakeets wings are not clipped, so I never take them outside if they aren't in their cage. But my parrot has clipped wings, so he comes outside whenever I do anything like get the paper or do something with my neighbors. He likes to sit on my neighbors' large rock and eat bark (which is okay), listen to wild birds, or watch the airplanes. If he gets startled and flies off of his rock, all he does is squawk for me to come get him.
I have all my birds downstairs now, so I spend a lot of time down their as opposed to in my room. My Playstation is also down there, so whenever I play with it, I get down into my beanbag chair, and sometimes he will fly down to me. This means he wants to be held, so I put him on my chest and he chews on my shirt (he's a baby). I recently got ANOTHER bird (that makes five!), but this one is a Quaker Parrot, not a parakeet. I also talk to them a lot. I have had this bird for about 5 weeks, and he has already learned to say "hello". I guess I must be doing something right!
Make sure that your bird doesn't turn out to be an escape artist like mine has. I got home one day to find him sitting on the arm of the basement couch. I was quite surprised to see my bird listening to the radio I turn on the morning, looking very contented. I came home the next day to see him sitting in the exact same place, staring up at me at the top of the stairs. He didn't act at all worried, and just looked like,"Well, where have you been?". His most recent escape was just today. Whenever I leave, I always look down the stairs to make sure everyone is okay. Today when I did this, I didn't see Sid (the parrot) in his cage. Then I heard his distinctive squawk, and I knew it wasn't coming from his cage. He was about 5 feet away, on the other side of my parakeets' cage. Since he hadn't done this in about 10 days, I was surprised. This was due mostly in part to the fact that I had already put a clothespin on this door. I think he's a little too smart for his own good......
Well, I just thought I would share my story and a little information with you. Hope any bird owners out there know what their birds are doing while they're out of the house!
