Best smartphone available in the US (as of June 2005)

by dominickalcid , Jun 02 '05
Pros: Great looks, great functionality, great voice service... great phone.
Cons: Spongy rocker/action button
My Audiovox SMT5600 review (edited from my Howard Forums review) IN THE BEGINNING I should start by stating that I wanted to buy this phone in an ATTWS (RIP) retail store when it was first released, but the best price that they could give me even as ...

Pros: easy of entry, movement around applications, screen size
Cons: background noise, low volume, style, can call out if pressed against something, vibration mode
I wanted to like this phone but after a week of use with Cingular I decided to return it because of unacceptable sound quality (too much background noise) for the listener, low volume for me and style. Background: I had to switch to Cingular from ...

Audiovox SMT 5600

by alanw2009 , Jul 02 '05
Pros: Small size. Good audio quality. Multimedia features are great.
Cons: Windows OS still has bugs.No stylus, touchscreen or cut and paste features.
I just bought an Audiovox SMT 5600 phone for evenings and weekends, when I do not need the horsepower and heft of my Treo 650. The phone runs the Windows Mobile 2003 OS. Here are my comments: Pro's: 1. Small size. 2. Excellent screen. 3. 100% ...

Smallest Smartphone, clever ergonomics

by dhgaut , May 15 '05
Pros: Small powerhouse. Brilliant color screen, bluetooth, mp3-capable, Windows Mobile 2003
Cons: Navigation select key a little difficult to use.
The Audiovox SMT5600 is an amazingly small phone for the all the features it sports. It comes with a decent stereo headset with microphone and volume control. But you may not need it because it has bluetooth. It comes with a charger that you don't ...

What I have been waiting for

by griswolm , May 16 '05
Pros: Great features. Great organizer. Great information gathering device. Good phone
Cons: Occasional "soft hangs" require a reboot to receive incoming phone calls.
I have long had a Palm and a cell phone (palm longer than the cell). I hated carrying two devices around everywhere I went but I was never convinced any of the combo devices would cut it... until I found this phone. It was so well rated and feature ...

No manual creates nightmare - lock on flight mode.

by dougdelt , Jun 09 '05
Pros: Syncs with outlook. voice activated phone. I would buy this phone again despite its flaws.
Cons: No easy access to voice activation. No manual.
I know I am going to love this phone. But beware. The oS is Windows mobile. There is no manual for it. There is none online. Even from MSFT's official Windows Mobile website, Nada. I put the phone in flight mode after 4 hours of exciting use of this ...

by sethichino , Aug 19 '05
Pros: mp3's, mpegs, mp3's as ringtones, camera, camcorder, really a computer
Cons: interface needs work, forced advertising. Difficult to learn controls. limited bluetooth functionality.
This phone is one of the best phones currently on the market. it features a camera, camcorder, mp3 player, easy syncing with contacts in outlook and outstanding audio quality. While the phone doesn't seem to be lacking many features, there are a few ...

It functions well
by toddrav ,Mar 20 '05
Pros: screen, size, battery
Cons: storage card under battery
Traded in my MPX200 for this phone. Not perfect but it does what I need: synch with outlook over the air allows me to stay current and read & delete mail. type only in emergency. Good screen, overall design and battery performance.

Outstanding Phone!
by caseysc ,Jul 05 '05
Pros: Synch capability, phone clarity, ease of use, PDA features
Cons: Camera not worth the feature.
I've had the phone for 2 weeks and it makes my last phone (motorola T720) and my Palm PDA seem like black and white TVs compared to a plasma screen. If you are looking for the best combo of phone and PDA, this is it. Great size, which is very important to me. Instant synch with Outlook. Great screen and pretty fast browser. Have not yet put in a mini SD, but I am sure the phone will rock as an MP3 player. Rocker control took some getting used to but it's not a problem. Camera is virtually useless as the resolution is low and there is no flash. Really not a feature I wanted anyhow. I heartily recommend this model to anyone looking to combine their phone and pda into a very small package that meets quality expectations.

This Phone Rocks!
by cahammaker ,Aug 24 '05
Pros: Small size, features, and syncing to Outlooks make this a great cell phone.
Cons: Rocking-style toggle takes some getting used to.
This is a great phone. Sync's to Outlook without a hitch. Can view my emails, work and home accounts. I am using a 1gb mini-sd card that holds all of my third-party programs and 10 hours mp3's, and it's only half full. I surf the net anywhere, and the games keep me occupied as well. On top of that, it's a great cell phone. I checked out pda's and blackberry's, as well as T-Mobile's Sidekick, and I think the SMT 5600 is up there with the best. Haven't used the bluetooth features, so I have nothing to add there. This is a sturdy well-built phone. I've dropped it about three times, and it keeps on ticking.

Its the ticket
by raloch ,Jul 24 '05
Pros: Small, Easy to use; connects syncs well with work and home
Cons: Price, rocker navigation button can be tricky, unlocking can be time consuming
I have had the Audiovox about 3 weeks now. I must admit having my calendar with me to be ready for tomorrow is amazing. I have to admit I was concerned about the ability of a small phone being able to handle all the features it claimed to have but now I am a true believer. It is small, fast and easy to use. It is by far the best tool for active people with multitasking being made easier with the phone. The camera is fine for my purposes and the reception even on the coast of Oregon is excellent. I was keeping my fingers crossed as reception is often a challenge out here. The volume of ring tones is good and the blue tooth and headsets make conversation on the go easy. I am learning to use the mp3 player. I have small hands so the buttons are easy for me. The rocker is a bit tricky though. All in all the best multipurpose phone to date. The Treo 600 being Palm based is good but this by far is better.

Very Sleek Sexy Practical Tool.
by hagbag67 ,Nov 02 '05
Pros: Applications, Speed, Looks, Size.
Cons: Joystick, Background noise.
I love this phone, it is a very power full tool for people on the go. It has a few little quirks about it but none that wont disappear after a few days use. The interface is clean and uses are endless. I am concerned about the joystick, it is a little awkward to get used to and if you use a case that the phone slides in and out of it catches. I spend a lot of time in automotive factories and the background noise on the phone is a little much but not to much that you cant use the phone. It comes bundled with all you need to get going and will make most of its users very happy.
