Pros: it's a big improvment over the last game Cons: there still work to be done in the fighting engine.
I bought Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2 for the PS
2
when the local video rental had it on sale for 20 dollars. I liked the original DBZ
Budokai the cube, but I heard the 2nd one is ...

Pros: Improved visuals, some decent voices, good sound effects. Cons: Story, the rest of the voices, old gameplay.
It is that time again, for another Dragonball Z game to hit the market. As usual, there are two types of people that react in different ways when hearing this. Person A: “Holy crap! Dragonball Z! That rules dude! I’m going to make purchase without ...

Ugh, don't waste your money.

Pros: Graphics, going SSJ3 Cons: Just about everything about the game
Yea so, we all know another Dragonball Z game has hit the market. And really, after how good the original Budokai was you would think that the second one would be great too! Right? Wrong.
Okay so I have to admit that the graphics are actually rather nice, the sound is good and the tournatment part is nice too. Oh, and being able to go SSJ 3 is a plus as well.
But Yikes! the "story" mode where you are looking like little game pieces and nothing goes the way it should is annoying, confusing, badly thought out and really not even worth wasting your time in playing.
The only plus side to this game is the graphics are better than the first Budokai. However, if you really want a Dragon ball Z fighting game. PLEASE just stick to the original Budokai, you wont be sorry you did.

Budokai in a different box
by imadad2 ,Jun 28 '04
Pros: See any Budokai eopinion. Super Saiyan 3 and Fusion Cons: still no flying, and nothing really new
After buying Budokai for my kids, I have been waiting for the price of Budokai 2 to drop so we can buy it. I found it for $20 finally, and bought it. Mistake. It plays and looks just like Budokai. I have not played it a lot, and actually prefer the first version of Budokai over it.
The reason is, because the first Budokai takes you through the story of DBZ. Budokai 2 takes you to what looks like an on line board game. I found it very boring. I am on the game to fight, not to stratigize and earn money to buy stuff. I just found it disappointing.
The only up thing I found was Super Saiyan 3 and fusion. That was a nice treat. I had to unleash those surprises though after playing that boring board game. I also like the additional damage that you could cause if you hit your opponent into something. That was nice. Budokai has that also.
If you are looking for a good 3-D fighter for the PS2, buy Budokai. Budokai 2 costs more, and has only a few new things.
