Pros: 1) Almost hard to believe how quite this vacuum is.
Cons: 1) Cant believe I have to spend 300 bucks to get a quality vacuum!
First off I did a ton of online and in store research before I bought. I looked around for around three months before I finally bought the Harmony Electrolux. Part of the reason I took so long was I could not believe that I needed to spend almost 300 ...

Pros: Hard floor performance, quiet, clean exhaust, ease of use Cons: Cost of bags
After using the Harmony for two weeks, I'm very impressed with the little vacuum. It has made my vacuuming experience a pleasure rather than a dusty chore. What I was looking for: We recently moved into a house with mostly hardwood floors. Our ...

Pros: Suction, quiet, real HEPA, bagged, low weight, novelty, outside-the-box potential Cons: Funky attachments, fragile handle park, no powerhead option, no 'floor brush', tool caddy handle only
This is my first cannister since using a high end Electrolux as a kid. I started looking at the BOSS upright bagged sealed HEPA in the $100 range, and decided to venture further into cansiters because the design seems more common among higher end vacuums ...

Pros: Very quiet, lightweight, good reach, good filtration Cons: Smaller bag than my older vacuum.
I had a bit of a hard time deciding between the Harmony and the Oxygen but decided on the Harmony because it's quieter and cheaper (significantly cheaper than the Oxygen Ultra). The additional expense for the Oxygen was mainly for the power brush, which ...

Pros: Quiet***, lightweight, good suction, washable HEPA filter, attachment caddy, swivel action, maneuverability, safe cordrewind, cute. Cons: Tough to remove floor attachments, tough on carpet, throw rugs, frequent bag, filter replacements.
I purchased the Harmony because it is advertized as "quiet" and I am now very happy with it. I liked that the unit is small and lightweight, the appliances are light as well. I am very happy with the "muffled" motor sound, which is much less ...

Pros: great on hardwood, compact, stylish, recoiling cord, quite Cons: $300 price,
This vacuum sucks... in a good way. My husband wanted to buy this vacuum, I was unsure. We shopped for a month or two to make a final decision. We borrowed the Miele from the store and I loved it but didn't want to spend almost $1000. We looked @ the ...

Powerful Suction, Flimsy Parts
by elecbanker ,Sep 10 '04
Pros: Suction power Cons: Poor quality plastic wand and attachments
Although this vacuum has powerful suction, the plastic wand and attachments are not of a quality that is consistent with the price. In my case, the carpet attachment broke off, leaving a piece of its collar on the wand. I had to spend nearly 40% of the original purchase price on replacement parts that were NOT covered by the warranty. Overall, a very poor value for the price paid.
Not recommended.

Beats any upright vacuum on hard floor
by ulfjoh ,Sep 18 '04
Pros: Not an upright, power, HEPA filter, attachments, swivel, easy to use, cord rewind, telescoping stick Cons: None
I had a Hoover wind tunnel, which I hated from day one; it did a terrible job on hard (tile and wood) floor. This wonderful little machine is quite and extremely easy to use. I love the hose, telescoping stick, and floor attachments. You can easily vacuum under beds, sofas, tables, and chairs, ... around corners without having to move anything.
I don't know how good it is on carpets but it cannot be worse than my Hoover.
I know that you have to replace the bags, which are a pain, but I gladly do that instead of having to clean the extremely dusty bag-less Hoover.

I love this vacuum cleaner: it has changed my life
by veronica_smith ,Apr 24 '05
Pros: Good look, small, great suction Cons: Short cord
This little vacuum cleaner is so aesthetically pleasing. It also has great suction and can pick up dog and badger hair like it is nothing. My stupid husband even picked up quarters with it! The cord, however, could stand to be just a few meters longer, but other than that, I have nothing but nice things to say about this machine.

This little fellow really sucks up the dirt!
by columbiacook ,Sep 16 '05
Pros: A really great machine--plus it reminds me of R2D2 (from Star Wars) Cons: The plastic hose may or may not go the distance
This vacuum is a great deal. It is an extremely high quality appliance and actually makes vacuuming fun....yeah right! Seriously, this is a workhorse of a machine in a pony package. It stores in a remarkably small amount of closet space and is perfect for those who live in older houses (think small closets) or apartments. It really does speed up the vacuuming and dusting process since it's so efficient.
Everything everyone else has said is true--incredibly quiet, powerful suction, horsehair bristle dusting brush/upholstery tool is standard, easy to maneuver, etc. I bought this on the advice of my allergist to help reduce dust mites and other allergens such as pollen, etc., and I believe it was money well spent. The air that is exhausted from the vacuum smells clean, and this makes the whole house smell like it's really been cleaned. I never noticed how much dust non-HEPA filtered vacuums churn up until I started using this baby.
If you have hardwood floors, especially highly polished or glossy finished, consider ordering the Deluxe Floor Tool ($14.99) directly from Electrolux. It features horsehair bristles all around and is 14 inches wide (covers a lot of floor space).

Not the same lux as my moms first one
by dbessire ,Feb 19 '05
Pros: Nice color Cons: Cheap construction poor suction. weak plastic Does not lift carpet
My mother used what i thought to be this brand of cannister for 25 years and recently we both decided to look for a new one.. We looked at several department stores that carried "This Brand Name". I purchased this model and mom bought an upright. What a disappointment. I should have know it was not from the same company as moms original. The cost 25 years ago was more than we paid now. This machine is made overseas. I called the customer service number to complain and found out the old american electrolux is now called something else "AERUS" and they sold the name to this company.. One comment you can put a top of the line trusted name on junk but in the end it is still junk...

Music to my ears
by bsaunders3 ,Nov 19 '05
Pros: Lightweight, powerful, compact Cons: None
I searched high & low for a vacuum that was both powerful & compact to fit in our tiny apartment. After buying & returning another make & model... I saw the Harmony. We would have gotten a Dyson if we had storage space so I went to the next best brand Electrolux for its reputation. This is a sturdy compact model that is lightweight. When I got it home I was shocked at the suction. It is incredible. And in addition... it's the quietest little machine I've ever encountered. The bags are not expensive either. Vacuum came with 2. I bought another box of 5 for $7.99. I paid $240 for the vacuum.

Outstanding performance
by siwanoy1 ,Jan 06 '05
Pros: Cleaning power, compactness, quietness, telescoping rod, attachments Cons: Getting used to adjusting the head going from floor to rug and back again
The last posted review was correct in every detail. The Harmony is versatile, easy to use, very compact and extraordinarily quiet. The suction is nevertheless powerful, even sometimes too powerful and needs to be adjusted down for thin area rugs. It is the most convenient cannister vacuum to store that I have every seen. The head hooks on to the canister to make for space-saving simplicity. The attachments are all well designed. The small brush is conveniently angled so that it reaches the dust on top of window frames -- not a common feature. One issue that requires care is that you must use the foot adjustment on the cleaning head when going from hardwood floor to rug, otherwise you will risk, variously, scratching the floor or not being able to push the vacuum on the rug.

Perfect for hardwood and tile
by originalkym ,Nov 13 '04
Pros: Love it. I bought it for hard floors and it performs extremely well. Cons: I would like a bigger bag.
I purchased the vacuum strictly for vacuuming my hardwood and tile floors and I absolutely love it. The big wheels roll over the cord and other obstacles without hanging up and it just follows me everywhere without getting stuck around the corner. The cord is long enough to get two rooms done. It works great on my throw rugs by changing the height on the floor tool and standing on an edge of the rug. I would never consider using it for carpet as it doesn't have a power head so it would be really hard to push.
When I'm vacuuming I can easily disconnect the hose and attach one of the above the floor tools because the rocker switch that releases the hose is so easy to operate.
It's so quiet I can talk on the phone while I'm vacuuming. I like how the floor tool pivots and wraps around furniture. It's so flat I can vacuum under my bed.
