Pros: Not a bad TV, inexpensive for the size, good remote, premium installation service Cons: New to the business, wall mounting not included, better options available
Being in the world of stocks and bonds, I have heard a lot about how a former stock market darling has decided to turn their emphasis away from computers and toward TV's and other consumer electronics. The company essentially decided that they had lost ...

Pros: Cheap! Nice styling. Backlit remote. Wow factor. DVI input. Cons: Had to power cycle sometimes to make DVI input work. Black display poor.
UPDATE Oct 2nd 2005: The DVI input has failed completely. Only analog input sources work now. Gateway wants $1000 to come out and fix this. I asked them to send me a part and they "don't know when" they will have any to send me. I am beyond upset. Do ...

Stay Away From This
by fsimo ,Jan 09 '05
Pros: Uh, let me think. It was okay when it worked. Cons: Terrible quality and customer protection. Caveat Emptor
In March 2004, my son purchased a new Gateway 46" plasma TV. Within three weeks, it had to be replaced due to uncontrollable volume. The replacement lasted a month until the picture went out. Replacement # 3 has now lost the picture.
It is still within the warranty, but I have a very nervous son. Sadly, Gateway has the option of replacing its defective products with "refurbished" models. Based upon my son's experience, there must be and endless supply or refurbished rejects to be foisted upon hapless customers. He bought the extended service policy and now anticipates repeated replacements with "rebuilt" junk .. until his extended warranty runs out.
Note: Epinions' various ratings "categories" are irrelevant to a plasma TV.
1/21/05: I failed to mention that Gateway has stopped production of this turkey .. leaving customers hanging out to dry. As usual repairs could not be made on site so the "thing" is being replaced .. with a 4th patched up unit .. when does it end??

Sorry Sorry Gateway Plasma TV's
by rdferrante ,Nov 08 '05
Pros: Resonable price, Easy to buy Cons: Terrible Product, Terrible Company
My wife and I remolded our living room around what we were led to believe was the top quality and selling plasma TV in the business. We bought the Gateway 46" plasma TV, thinking that Gateway was a reputable company and would stand behind what they sold. After 13 months the tuner board went out and needed repaired, 3 months later, the picture went out. Repair people said it was UNREPAIRABLE because Gateway would not supply parts. Gateway wanted 900.00 to send someone to try to fix it but could not guarantee the results. NO WAY was I going to spend that kind of money, without guaranteed results. I got nothing from Gateway but a run around and a broken TV. I was WRONG about thinking Gateway was a reputable business and WRONG about this TV's quality. Remember this Gateway, NO QUALITY, NO SERVICE, NO SALES. This company should not be in business. If you have a defective Gateway TV, join the CLASS ACTION lawsuit that has been started. I DID!
