Pros: 15" screen, stick finger mouse, good keyboard.
Cons: 1 design flaw is the left rear corner on 15" models can start to crack.
R51 is an adequate work horse for XP Business Applications. Depending on the type as there is a 14" LCD model and 15" LCD model, you will get dependable service out of this platform. It is no a gaming laptop but a business class workstation/laptop.
Given it's age and the fact that it is now considered at the end of it's service life for many corporations, the IBM r51 has proven it self to be a good platform for day to day office use and light traveler. When I say "Light" it is not a good traveler but for occasional travel as it's overall size of the 15" clearly places it into the workstation/laptop catagory. It is certainly not an X40, X60, X61 or X200 size IBM/Lenovo.
Many of these came with a 30gig hard drive which by todays standards is small. With the IBM recovery partition, the actual usable space is far less than the 30gig. If your considering buying a used unit to use day to day at home and occasional travel, this is a good solid basic use home laptop. You will have to upgrade the drive to a larger size and add memory.
