IWILL XP4 = FULL FUNCTION MINI PC FOR LESS
by ironbear ,Dec 04 '03
Pros: Small, quiet, excellent performance and super cool appearance, full legacy ports. Cons: Room only for a single stick of memory.
I've been really pleased with my Iwill XP4, presently set up with a Celeron 2.4, 512 MB, a Sony DVD recorder and 80 GB Maxtor. This system appears to offer considerable possibilities well into the future. It's used primarily for, web page creation, business applications and Internet. The 2 channel, on-board audio and video are perfectly fine for these applications. This is not likely to be a power game machine, but the AGP slot equipped version should totally rock. It has a single, full size PCI slot. It comes equipped with 4 USB-2 ports, and all the usual legacy ins and outs. Overall, small, lightweight and well constructed. Note: installing components in the mini-case was slightly "interesting", but there were no problems at all. I would certainly buy one of these again.
Note: I did, and now have a second XP-4 (it's a XP-4D this time), with a CeleronD 2.93, WD 160 GB, Sony DVD RW, 512MB. It's used for audio content creation. It's larger front to back and now has a spring loaded door for the hidden drive. Still excellent, I'd give a slight preference to the original design.
