Pros: Lightweight, easy to operate, audio pick-up is good; it pinch-hits as a digital still camera Cons: Resolution at maximum digital zoom range is not too good; indoor isn't too good either
This camcorder is my very first foray into the realm of video-anything (I'm a late-blooming techno-g ...
Pros: AV in, remote, battery life, FUN camera Cons: no headphone/microphone jack, no light, night-vision worthless
I bought this camera over a year ago and also bought the extra big battery. I know I paid more than what's on the sticker nowadays, but I don't recall the exact value. I was dying for digital video and hoping to do some things with my computer as far as ...
Pros: Sleek, balanced, good video quality, easy use, lightweight but solid built, good bang for buck! Cons: Poor still picture quality
I hope that every review written will allow people to at least consider pros and cons about a specific product. It certainly has helped me with a variety of products on this site, so I encourage all to write their own reviews so we can all help each ...
Pros: Good Sound, Lightweight Cons: Noisy Zoom, not-so-desirable lighting
I got this product at the after-thanksgiving-day sale at Best Buy. I really like the lightweight, easy-to-use, and high audio quality pickup. I recorded with it in a low sound level meeting and it picked it up really good. When I went to dub the MiniDV ...
I basically bought the GR-D90 because it was on sale and had a 3.5" LCD screen. If I had to do it over again I would probably would've spent a little more to get a better camcorder. The GR-D90 performs fine if you have good light and loud enough subjects. Otherwise it struggles to make quality films. I would recommend this camcorder to a beginner or someone that has difficulty seeing the typical 2.5" LCD screens.
JVC Camcorders are junk!! by magickbrett ,Feb 06 '05
Pros: The camera is very compact and easy to operate. Cons: It is junk and JVC is very ignorant to customers
I bought this model of camcorder a year and a half ago ago. I thought this was a good camera and that JVC was a respectable company. My opinion has drastically changed!!
Recently I had to send this back to the service department to fix an internal sensor. The LED screen would say that the lens cap was on, and it didn't allow me to do any video recording or anything at all. I had no choice but to have JVC headquarters fix this, and they charged me $180 of labor for a $34.00 part. I have talked to everyone I could and nobody there cares about my issue on how I was scammed.
Pros: ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT IT'S CUTE,SMALL AND STYLIST. Cons: LOW LIGHT,LOW LIGHT,LOW LIGHT PROBLEMS.
I PREVIOUSLY OWNED A JVC NON DIGITAL CAMCORDER WITH LIGHT AND LOVED IT. THIS CAMCORDER HAS MADE ME VERY SAD.BECAUSE THE LOW LIGHT FEATURES ARE USELESS.I REALLY AM LET DOWN WITH JVC BECAUSE THEY HAD TO KNOW THIS CAMERA HAD MAJOR FAULTS. IT'S NOT LIKE THEM TO BE SO MISDIRECTING.
Not impressed.....Poor video quality, bad color, night owl feature disappointing. by curt2u ,Feb 01 '04
Pros: Lightweight, compact, easy to use. Cons: Poor low light video quality. Poor color quality. Grainy picture. Night owl feature joke.
I read poor reviews on this camcorder before purchasing but was attracted to the compact size and had to give it a try. First I got the model 30 then upgraded to the 90 so I would have a remote and larger LCD.
Low light movie quality on both models was very disappointing as the reviews I read indicated. Very grainy. Even in good light video color quality was poor. The color was rather dark and bland too. Indoor video quality was poor. My 10 year old Sony blew the JVC away for video quality in a side by side comparison I did indoors and outdoors. LCD screen was hard to see a lot of the time outdoors. Sound quality was only so so and outdoors the smallest breeze sounded like a hurricane. Night owl feature was a joke. Choppy and unusable.
Also, this camera did not feel very durable to me. It was very user friendly, lightweight, and compact though. I am returning this camera and getting another Sony. Little heavier but I need good video quality.
I had this camera over a week, and use it everyday to learn about it..It is a sensitive camera, so be gently, its not good constructed as the canon-zr. Zoom is powerful...many different light setting for sport, indoor, classic brown look, natural,etc..(best feature). Over all the camera is just ok. Color is accurate 90%, but I dont know why my indoor night shots show up yellow lines(or streaks)on white surface(disappointment), but every other color comes out fine indoor. Hope this helps...and do buy ext. warr. this camera is full of plastics..still pix is NOT even as good as a 1.3 camera, so do consider it...
GREAT VIDEO CAMERA. Comes with the FireWire (IEEE 1394) cable. Buy a FireWire card if you want to transfer VIDEO to the computer. A USB cable will handle the STILL photos. The FireWire cable came with the camera. The model (that worked absolutely flawlessly) was the I/O Flex FireWire & USB 2.0 card, Model IOFLEX-7002 ($80.00). My computer had, till that point, been just USB 1.0. Playback on computer, as produced with Windows Movie Maker, in *.wmv format is pretty nice. When you playback to your t.v. (using the camera as the VCR), it is OUTSTANDING quality. Also very cool is the camera's function as a converter of your old analog tapes (VHS, Hi-8) to digital (writes right to Mini-DV tapes.) (Haven’t tried that yet.) Well worth the money, for preserving memories. Burn those babies to CD, and you have a very good record. I have found that you can save over SIX hours of *.wmv files to one 700 meg (that's the standard size) writable CD.
