Pros: Immersive musical Performance, easy enjoyable setup, excellent software bundle. Beautifully engineered, Cons: Having to share with my wife!
As a previous owner of several multi-channel sound cards, I was feeling the dreaded anxiety of yet another BSOD. I had recently upgraded my WinXP system to Service Pack 2 and the drivers for my Philips Acoustic Edge 5.1 card were not taking it well. ...

No DVD audio player?
I brought this card last year (2003) then let it go when I sold the computer. I have recently brought a SB Platinum; but it's just not the same. If any one know why this card is now only for sale in America, please let me know. I want / need one again. ...

Impressive Sound Quality For The Price
by just4biz ,Aug 29 '04
Pros: Sound quality for the price Cons: WinXP install quirky; mediocre manual; no equalizer; no analog connectors for CD-ROM drives
I don't play computer games so I can't really say whether or not the complaints about using this card with games are justified. I do watch DVD's and listen to music from CD's & mp3 files. The sound from this card is far superior to my old Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. I did have to swap out a CD burner (TDK) that didn't handle digital audio since it doesn't have analog connectors. I already had a Plextor PX712-A DVD burner so I just added a cheap LiteOn DVD player for recording on the fly. Once installed properly, the card has impressed me with its sound quality. I have VideoLogic 5.1 speakers and I can now understand the lyrics even while the bass is pounding. I'm listening to oldies (the Drifters, the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Buddy Holly and even some Blue Grass) as I write this. Playing my favorite old tunes on the computer has never sounded nearly as good as it does now. The card was relatively cheap when I bought it off eBay. The price included Fedex shipping. I'm very happy with the sound quality and I have no serious complaints.

No No NO!
by killor ,Mar 13 '04
Pros: Perfect clarity
DVD positioning perfect
Bass-Management
Good 3D positioning in games Cons: No equalizer, and that's about it!
I think that the reviewer before myself is no offense ignorant and hardly believe that they even bought the card. The reason i say this is because if you download the latest drivers for the sound card it easily out preforms Creative's ZS 2. The sound for music is impeceable. And for DVDs its even clearer. This sound card does not resample audio, something that every other sound card on the market does. Including all of Creative's cards. So what if there is no equalizer, modify what you here in the control panel. I have been extremely pleased with this card, and i have bought almost every Creative card, every generation until the audigy. Then i found M-Audio. Hope you like!

Great sound Card
by torpdude ,Dec 06 '04
Pros: Almost perfect sound reproduction Cons: I can't drag myself away from the computer
I have this card hooked to both the 5.1 analogue and the SP/DIF inputs on my Sony HT receiver with Polk audio sat/sub and all I can say is that the sound is superb. For those that want an equalizer, I would have to the other reviewers that WINDVD can be used to give this card that functionality.
I am using this card for a HTPC and have no complaints. Highly recommended

Terrible Card
by tallpaul777 ,Feb 14 '04
Pros: I couldn't find any Cons: no equalizer, no CD drive inputs, terrible sound
The main problem is this card has no equalization whatsover. NOT EVEN basic treble and bass controls!! This makes all the audio sound flat. I emailed tech support and they told me to boost treble in the software. Even with the treble maxed out in applications the sound is still flat! The sound in games is absolutely horrible, since there is no EQ function is games. There are no inputs for CD drives and no SPDIF inputs

Just an INCREDIBLE sound card!!!
by sherab108 ,Oct 05 '04
Pros: Just about everything Cons: No equalizer...that's it!
I've been running this card for a little over a month now and I have ABSOLUTELY no complaints!
The reviewer that was trashing the card seems like he either got a lemon or doesn't actually own the card.
I've got nothing but incredibly clear sound either in games, DVD's, or music.
No complaints!
