Pros: Fast, reliable, and relatively easy to setup. Cons: Requires a wired connection for setup and is a little more expensive than others.
I have needed to upgrade my wireless router for some time. My speedstream 2623 was starting to drop wireless connections too frequently and I was starting to notice sound quality losses on my telephone service, which is internet based (vonage), while ...
Pros: Price, looks, performance Cons: whats up with the floppy dude?

Summary: It took 10 minutes to set-up this router to replace my old one, install the PC Card into my laptop, restart the router and be surfing the internet from anywhere in my house, my neighbors house, and well probably farther, but it's cold ...
Pros: Easy to setup
Good support Cons: Poor refund policy at Microsoft... involves a lot of work!
When I first started using this router, I really liked it. It has a nice admin utility, and worked in the range that I needed it to work. It also seems to have good security built-in to prevent uninvited users from using my network and internet ...
Pros: Extremely easy set-up, blazing fast speed Cons: Prone to 2.4 GHz portable phone interference
I've got average to slightly above average computer software savvy, though very little hardware know-how. I've never set up any kind of network before, though I have used a wireless net at work. I'm running Windows 98SE on my desktop and Windows XP on ...
Pros: Easy setup. Very fast and reliable. Great price. Cons: Very hard to find.
I upgraded from the MN-500 router in order to take advantage of the faster speeds that 802.11g can provide. The setup and configuration is a snap (instructions and setup disc will walk the most basic novice through the process easily). In addition to ...
Pros: Great options, nice "Windows-ish" interface. Cons: No local loopback. Microsoft has discontinued this product.
This was my first 54g router. Based on the familiar Broadcom 54g MIPS-based router chipset (found in other manufacturer's products such as Linksys, Belkin, Dell, Buffalo, etc.), this little product has one thing that the others do not. It runs Windows CE instead of an embedded Linux.
Configuration is a snap, but be careful about having something like StyleXP or WindowBlinds installed - you won't be able to use the configuration tool that comes on CD for it.
Unfortunately, local loopback did not work, so it made testing the web server I ran a bit strange, but the port forwarding worked correctly from the outside.
Wireless range was on par with the old Linksys WAP11 Access Point I had. Throughput was about the same as well.
The only problems that I noticed were the local loopback and a bit of a slowdown on the router's web interface at certain times, however, I could not explain why.
This product had a lot of great potential, it's sad that Microsoft is giving up on it.
Best I've dealt with so far. by acousticchick ,Mar 15 '04
Pros: Easy setup, great connection speeds, compatibility Cons: none that I've found just yet
After purchasing a D-Link G614+, having teriable times setting up a network where all computers could be online together and still not being able to get a faster speed of 11 mbps or to stay online for more than 5 minutes without losing a connection.... I bought this MN700 router.
Set up was fast, easy and hastle free. Once connected, every computer hooked up (4 wireless laptops {2 centrino, 1 MSN wireless card, 1 Belkin wireless card} and one wired PC) had a great signal and fabulous speed. I was quite impressed that it did not get any interference from the 2, 2.4ghz phones in my house either.
After 2 days, I havent lost the connection at all. All of the wireless computers get no less of a signal than "good" and the slowest connection has been 24mpbs.
I couldn't be more satisfied. Especially after my first experience with the D-Link.
Cable length is important by javajohnnv ,Dec 06 '04
Pros: Good price, nice security Cons: Some odd setup issues
I purchased the MN-700 in 5/04 as a replacement for a Linksys BEFSR41 for two reasons; the Linksys did not maintain a connection with my ReplayTV 4500, and I got a Wi-Fi laptop.
Setup of the MN-700 was easy and the LAN connections to the PCs, Xbox, and Replay were fast and stable. The problem was that the MN-700 would not link up with my Toshiba PCX2200 cable modem. The 3 foot Cat 5 I had been using with the Linksys did not work. With a couple of 6 foot cables the connection came and went. It was not until I connected the two with a 10 foot Cat 5 that I got a solid link. Not sure why this is, but it appears cable length is important. After I connected to the Internet, I would need to hit refresh to get to any website. Turns out instead of passing the IP address of the ISP DNS server on to the client PCs, the MN-700 configures itself as the DNS server for DHCP clients. Manually setting the DNS IP address on the client PCs resolved the problem.
Microsoft MN 700 Wireless Base Station by macthompson ,Mar 28 '05
Pros: Fairly easy to setup Cons: Desktop software help file is not very useful, rely on booklet
I have been using this for over a year and overall I like it. It took awhile to figure out why my Pocket PC wasn't working, but that was finally resolved, and now I have four computers hooked in- two by cable, and two by wireless, using the WEP security setting. I have read other users not being happy with this, saying it dropped signals (wireless) and can honestly say I have not had that problem. My problem has been it seems to broadcast your wireless broadband connection well beyond 300m. That's why I made it a priority to establish at least some sort of encryption, because I checked the signal strength with my laptop, and found it maintained a strong signal well down the street where I live. The software help file that comes with it has some weak descriptions on how to do what you want, so you may have to experiment, but the owner booklet is pretty comprehensive. All in all I think its pretty good device.
I just finished installing the Microsoft MN-700 Base Station and USB-2 adapter. What a simple installation. I stood in the store and wasn't sure the brand to buy but I am so thrilled I choose the Microsoft product. Simple and Easy without frustration was my experience and I can't tell the difference when connected to the net between using my wired PC and this wireless PC I am typing on now. I downloaded XP-SP1 full file from Microsoft.com, it is a 128MB file. It took 6-1/2 minutes to download to my wired PC and only 8-1/2 minutes to my wireless PC,awesome speeds thru my network. Thanks for a great experience Microsoft.
I have 4 PCs and with the USB2 adapter I can just plug and play for instant connections. There is even a floppy included pre-labeled to load your settings to move from PC to PC..PERFECT.. AAA+++
Great wireless router, easy setup by lisafaye ,Aug 19 '04
Pros: Easy setup, nice design, great connection speed Cons: none
We bought this router because we just purchased 2 laptops for home use and wanted to set up a wireless network in order to share files and surf the web simultaneously. I had the router and network adapter cards set up within 30 minutes and we were both connected to the network. It is very easy to set up and the instructions are easy to follow. I recommend this router to anyone who wants a wireless network at home.
Not reliable, I'm continually resetting by axel179 ,Dec 06 '06
Pros: Good security. Easy Management Cons: NOT RELIABLE, Continually dropping the connection
I bought this router as a kit with a usb wireless nic for my PC. The Security is good and it was easy to set up. BUT it drops the connection way too often. At first I thought it was the USB NIC but I am having the same problem with my laptop with the built in Wireless. In fact it drop my connect twice as I was writting the review. I'm continually powering it off and them back on or resetting it completely. I am only 30 feet away from the device.
Also to initial set it up and do any upgrade you have to be connected with a wire.
