Pros: Simple set up, bargain price, good build quality. Cons: No WEP password conversion feature like on Apple's Airport. Potential security gaps
I have two Macs and a PC laptop, but I prefer my Macs over my PCs for 95% of my work, and usually buy Apple peripherals when feasible. Since January '03 when Apple introduced the 802.11g standard I've been lusting after a 801.11g router but didn't want ...

Pros: Easy setup, cheap. Cons: works over 2.4 GHz band and might interfere with a 2.4 Ghz Phone.
Got my Netgear WGR614 802.11g Wireless Router a few days back It was advertised at $56.94 with $20 rebate. This is a great product that was easy to install and worked as advertised right out of the box. This was my first router installation, and ...

Netgear doesn't honor its own rebates
by vmiles ,Apr 15 '04
Pros: OK Unit, doesn't have better range nor data rate then less expensive D-Link G product. Cons: WEP doesn't work, tech support requested support fee for this feature ($50).
I have purchased Netgear Wireless Router WGT624 and Netgear Wireless PCMCIA Card WG511T from Newegg.com online retailer. One of the factors that played a role in my decision to purchase this set of items naturally was the price. The price for both was $177.00 with a $20.00 rebate offer on WGT624 product. After the purchase I have submitted a completed rebate form to the Netgear for fulfillment. Over 2 month later and lack of response from the Netgear, I have contacted Netgear rebate processing office where I was informed that my rebate request was denied due to the product purchased at an unapproved retailer. The name of the retailer (Newegg.com) is clearly printed on the rebate form and despite my objections, rebate-processing office refused to discuss this satiation further and terminated the call. I have sent an email to the Netgear main point of contact listed on their Website. In a week and lack of any response I sent another email inquiring about the situation with the same result.
