AT&T Wireless will take you for an entire month of service charges on your final month of service when you cancel your account unless you cancel it on the last day of the contract period. After speaking with multiple service reps and getting the same ...

The bills keep coming, it is currently up to $888 and change. I signed up in August 2003 for a new one year plan, even though, at the time I could have ported my phone to Verizon, and I disregarded the complaints and reviews I got thru research. ...

Quite possibly the worst retail experience of my life.
by kdudley ,Mar 18 '04
Quite possibly the worst retail experience of my life.
I ordered a phone, with porting my number from another carrier on line.
Here's what they screwed up:
Shipped it to my billing address, not the shipping address I asked for.
Signed me up for a different plan than I asked for.
They never finished the porting request. I had to call the porting service department twice to get it done.
Now for the kicker - they charged me credit card over $200 dollars for a phone that is supposed to be free with a 2-year agreement (which I signed up for), or $99 retail. How does a free/$99 phone become over $200?
I've had to spend 16 hours, mostly on hold, over 6 different calls, to get my money back.
Avoid AT&T at all costs - they will steal your money, and then give you the runaround, stonewalls, lies and excuses when you try to get it back.

Choosing AT&T Wireless was the worst decision I’ve made in years.
by mrkazanecki ,Aug 24 '04
Go to Cingular or T-Mobile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AT&T s@#ks.
My first two statements have been incorrect by HUNDREDS of dollars. I have wasted hours sorting this out on the phone with their reps. And after these corrections the website still reflects the wrong billing amounts.
Every time I make a call I get a very loud static ticking before connection.
The minutes usage portion of the website is indecipherable even to their service reps. After ten minutes of explaining and back pedaling the rep only made things worse by making me realize I have a two year contract with a@#holes.

Poor Customer Service and Horrible Coverage
by rhafez ,Apr 27 '04
Coverage was very marginal and poor. In-building coverage was horrible (yes, I know that no body guarantees in building coverage, but somehow, T-Mobile did great, and AT&T didn't). Customer Service personnel are rude and useless. They had on clue how to configure the phone to be used on their network, and were very inflexible regarding disputed charges.
If you're looking for GSM within the Chicago Land Area, make AT&T your very last resort. T-Mobile is the best in coverage in Chicago. Cingular is ok, but not so great either. AT&T is simply horrible.

easy to use, fast shipping

Free shipping is what immediately got me hooked when upgrading my phone. In a couple of days, my brand-new Sony Ericsson T616 arrived and I was not disappointed. GSM America has the best GSM coverage - far better than Cingular and T-Mobile COMBINED!

Horrible Reception...Worthless Service.
by dial218 ,Jun 09 '04
I live in Queens, NY.
I have used MCI Worldcom and Verizon Wireless prior to signing up with AT&T and had little to no service issues with those two.
AT&T has the worst service by far. I stopped giving out my cell number as a result. Calls are sometimes pure static or just no sound.
If you live in NYC, stay away from AT&T.

Be careful....these guys will try and take your money!!!
by mike703 ,Apr 03 '04
Be careful....these guys will try and take money from you. It took me almost 3 weeks but I finally was able to track down a $200 payment that I made 3 weeks ago. I had to stay on top of them the entire time in order to get them to credit my account the amount of my payment.

the worst wireless company --- period
by sbrennan ,Apr 11 '04
Before you enter into any contract with ATT wireless, just call their customer care center --- I guarantee you will spend at least an hour on hold, and after that you will be transfered to another department. They are the absolute epitome of a bureaucratic nightmare. I hope Cingular didn't pay much for "goodwill" when they aquired them, because I am certain there is enough negative will among current and past att customers to bankrupt both companies.

Never sign-up...they will screw up your credit history.
by deregnad ,Mar 07 '04
I closed my account with at&t wireless 2.5 years ago. I spoke to a rep and closed it properly without any outstanding dues. Two months ago I find a credit report entry for a collection agency for an account with at&t wireless. I called around and no one seems to know what the money is for!! I have asked for old bills which will take 2-3 weeks! They never ever sent me any bills for this "outstanding amount" and slammed my good credit.
Now I'm busy trying to figure out how to get rid of this @#$*. Stay away from at&t wireless!!

Avoid AT&T at all costs. Problems galore!
by cnetuser ,Apr 12 '09
AT&T service is still very poor. Whether it's their customer service, 3G network, coverage area, and in-store reps. It's all still really bad. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio and am constantly having problems with my brand new 3G Nokia 6650 phone. Whenever I dial out, I am frequently hearing crackling/interference in the line. I get a lot of dropped calls, especially during rush hour. There are many areas of poor/low reception throughout Cincinnati. Many times, I get "network busy" messages when trying to make a call. Their network is VERY unreliable and their voice quality is atrocious. Even with the 3G network! Customer service always blames the phone for the problem. I can tell you, it's their network, not the phone. I have called them 3 separate times and nothing is done to fix the voice and tower overloading problems.

Cell Phone Subscriber
by tfong007 ,Nov 09 '04
This is the worst cell phone company on the market. They are a bunch of crooks and their customer service is non-existent. I cancelled it after two weeks. They had so many charges on my bill it made me dizzy. I called and after 5 calls and being transferred from India and back at least 5 times I reached someone who could help, then I got a cut call. Called back and waited for 20 minutes, and still couldnt get charges fixed. Terrible company. Dont ever even bother with them. I have verizon now and I am in heaven.
