Criminals! Watch out
by mikkib ,Nov 08 '04
Since the day I signed up with AT&T they have messed up my account continuously. They keep trying to over charge. Charges show up that I know I didn't do. If I call in I stay on hold for hours. It took 4 weeks to get my number transferred so I had to pay for my old and new phone. It took Sprint 2 days to do their part of the switch and 4 weeks for At&T to do it and they were the GETTING out business. The customer service is terrible and the sound quality hasn't been better than Sprint in the Austin, TX area than Sprint as I expcted. Don't get me wrong, I get my calls dropped all the time by Sprint and they aren't perfect but at least they charge me correctly and offer some decent level of customer service. I can't wait to go back to them when my contract ends.

Buyer Beware. Pitiful excuse for a wireless provider.
by md2k ,Oct 29 '04
It's funny how often the words lies, lying and lied are used in these reviews. I recently purchased the new Ogo device from AT&T wire less and was told 5 different things about the device and service from 5 different people with AT&T. Needless to say The device and service were horribly sub par and I returned the unit within a week. Of course they said that they would refund the money but since there system was not configured to refund the prepaid monthly charge I wouldn't be getting my money for the service back. I was flabbergasted. I said "you agree that I should be entitled to a refund ?" "Yes." said customer service rep on the phone. "But I won't be getting said refund because you are not setup for it in your little cubicle."
"Yep." said the rep. So extremely long story short. If you do business with AT&T wireless get EVERYTHING in writing. They will not honor the promises and representations of their own agents and employees. Buyer Beware!

Good thing they merged because they would have gone out of business
by jfreedom20 ,Jan 18 '06
(This is from before the merge with Cingular) The service has been horrible- I rarely get reception and when I do, it's hard to hear. The deal was good until I get my bill back and find out that they had me down for the wrong plan (regional, not national). The customer service was ludicrous and wouldn't hear me out. I had signed up online and they said that it was my fault for having the wrong plan because I clicked the button.
This company must have been struggling to get off their feet and need all the money they can get. Don't under any circumstances do business with them unless you don't mind incompetent customer service.

AT&T fails monumentally at service and satisfaction
by hoodjm ,Jan 27 '09
Customer service does not exist at AT&T wireless! Do not do business with them, you have been warned! I have had my service with them for over 6 years and they do not seem to appreciate my business. I am terminating with them after they have failed twice to help me resolve an issue with an added data service. I have 5 voice lines and 1 data service. When I reminded them of this they told me it did not matter. They are willing to lose all my business over one element of my plan. Luckily there are other carriers in the sky.

DONT DO IT!!
by greg8383 ,Feb 11 '05
i dont even know where to begin.. The best advice i can give, is if you decide to go with cingular/ at&t. RECORD YOUR PHONE CALL!!! Their reps will spout off whatever you want to hear. say they "made a note" hang up the phone and laugh at you. They dont care about making you happy. Very few times of the many i have HAD to call has something got resolved as it should. very poor customer service..if i wasnt lied to about my contract, or have to pay 350 to get out of it.. i would be gone. oh, and if you decide you want to upgrade your phone during your contract.. your contract starts over... just some fyi. hope this has been helpful. -greg

dishonest, lying coercive cheaters
by bbb9 ,Dec 20 '04
AT&T Wireless is without heart, without honesty and without brains. they overcharged me for 6 months and I had to call them and complain every month, but when I brought up the idea of canceling they held firm to $200 per acct - $800. when i said that I would contest that they said that they had a correspondence address that you could write to but that there was no phone number and no guarantee that anyone would get back to you.
they also told me to take a higher level of minutes, because I could drop my minutes anytime with no consequences. when I tried to drop the minutes they said I would have to extend the contract in order to do so. I said "I relied on your statements" they said we'll write up feedback on the person that told you that.
SCUM! SCUM! SCUM! They have created a new low for service

Horrible terrible unreliable, need I say more?
by jfodor ,Jan 17 '05
I have to say I can't get over the horrible service I get with this cell phone service. I recently went on my boyfriend's plan, thinking I would save money this way since Verizon Wireless was charging me an arm and a leg and AT&T offered their add a line for $9.99.
So, the day I got the phone, I attempted to make a call. After listening for several minutes to nothing, I finally looked on the phone and it said "call failed". So, I tried again. I actually got through this time, however, the person on the other end was like, "who is this"? When I identified myself, they said, "Oh my God, where are you - you sound like you are speaking into a cup"! And then I got cut off again.
To make a long story short, this experience has been consistently what I get from AT&T, terrible service. DO NOT EVER SWITCH TO THEM! Whoever else you choose will be better!! I am going back to Verizon.

Reliable service! Great plan!
by cbella76 ,Oct 16 '04
I have been an AT&T Wireless customer for almost 3 years now and never had any technical problems. My boyfriend and I are on a great shared plan that is perfect for our use. We get great discounts on newer phones every year. I have heard alot of negative things about At&t Wireless but I am yet to experience any of them.

Good coverage and service, prices are better than most other carriers.
by spocker ,Oct 21 '04
I have had AT&T Wireless for about 5 years, and have had pretty good luck with them. I get alot of minutes for reasonable money (local plan- 49.99/mo gives me 900 anytime minutes anywhere in NewEngland down to DC). I have a Nokia 6560 TDMA phone. I am on the older network, but the new GSM network is getting new sites added all the time, and my girlfriend recently switched to a GSM phone from AT&T from Verizon. I have found the AT&T people in the stores pretty easy to work with, and have had no real problems. I can get a new phone every year, which I have taken advantage of. All carriers have spotty coverage, and they are in the middle of the pack, and better than others in some areas.

by carlster ,Aug 13 '04
I had a very bad experience with AT&T customer services. I talked to 4 rep. Two of them are very very rude. I canceled my order immediately.

I have never experienced WORSE customer service than that doled out by AT&T Wireless!!
by loptimiste1 ,Dec 30 '04
Customer service is EXTREMELY fragmented and incompetent. I spend nearly 1 to 2 hours per month on the phone with service associates that assure me my bill will be "corrected". Most corrections require multiple attempts. EXAMPLE: AT&T accidentally doubled my bill from around $65 to $114. Called and was assured things would be fixed - within weeks an additional $65 was charged. Now, a would be $65 bill was $244. Hours on the phone finally corrected this issue and they sent out a refund check which took 3 weeks to arrive. Have had many similar instances. DO NOT USE AT&T WIRELESS!! Go to Verizon.
