My experience with Academic Superstore was a nightmare! I called back to check on my order about 4 days after I had placed it and they told me they were out of stock. I called back a week later and they told me that they received the item and that they were going to ship it that day. It has been 13 days now and still no shipment. There is no way you can sign in at the website and find your order status that way and the telephone number is only available from 9-5, which is really inconvenient with me. In addition, I found the same product form a different (more reliable) store a few days later for thirty dollars less! Academic Superstore has been a complete nightmare and three weeks later, I still have not received my order!

These negative reviews surprise me as I've had good experiences with Academic Superstore. The four times I've ordered with them, the correct items were promptly shipped. I had to return one (unopened) piece of software (due to my own mistake in ordering) and they promptly credited my Visa account. And when I talked to them on the phone they were courteous and helpful. If you're a student or a teacher, their prices are great and their selection is among the best of the academic software stores.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT SHOP HERE. They are nothing but fraud. What they advertise, and what they send are two complete different things, which happend to be my case. I ordered a panasonic recorder, and got a sony recorder. Tried to explain to them about the situation, and said the panasonic recorder wasnt in stock, and it wouldnt be in stock or ready to be shipped in almost a month! There customer service is HORRIBLE, and exteremly rude, cause I dont think they have any trained staff. Trying to get a hold of them is impossible, just wait and you'll see. They will not respond to your e-mails, or messeges. Everytime you call them, its always a voice mail. It was unfortunate that I didn't see e-opinios before, and when I did the nightmare had already taken it's course. PAY A LITTLE MORE PEOPLE AND GET IT FROM A HIGHLY RANKED QUALITY COMPANY WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE. NEVER WILL I SHOP HERE AGAIN EVEN IF THEY WERE ADVERTISING IT FOR FREE. GOD KNOWS WHAT THEY MAY SEND INSTEAD.

I ordered MS Office 2003 Professional and had the product in a few days. I ordered the Nikon Super Coolscan 9000ED and even though they list the product as in stock on all web sites, the product is not available. The Academic Superstore customer service person asked me if I knew if the product had been released yet when I called about the status of my order. I would recommend Academic Superstore for software purchases but, I would not consider their idea of in stock as reliable and their customer service has a lot to be desired.

I placed order with them for new ATI x800 PRO. I received confirmation e-mail with my order number and they also ask me to prove it that I'm a student, no matter that I was buying hardware:
" Thank you for your recent order! Unfortunately, the software manufacturers require that we have dated eligibility that proves you are currently enrolled as a student" It was no problem for me to send them a copy of my student ID. After checking my eligibility I received e-mail that my order will be processed shortly. Next day I call them and they said that they’re about to send me the card from there warehouse. Very next day I decided to check the status of my order and they tell me that they don’t have the videocard in stock. I canceled my order. Either now in there web site shows that x800 pro is in stock, which is not true.
I agree with discount prices for software for students, but first I was buying hardware and second before asking for eligibility check if you have the item in stock.

Academic superstore was very quick about shipping my copy of Macromedia Flash 2004. I e-mailed them my student ID and they responded within minutes saying that it had been properly varified. They didn't send me a tracking number, but responded within an hour when I requested it. Great Service! A+ Keep up the great service! (especially when everyone else's service seems to be getting worse by the day!)

Despite being listed as "In Stock" on Shopping.com website, a video card was backordered when I ordered it. There was no indication of backorder on their website either. So after paying extra for 2-day shipping I am still going to have to wait two weeks to get it.

If you want to save a few dollars and you don't need the product immediately this is an excellent sight. However, be forewarned regardless of what you are told the product is likely backordered and you may need to be a little patient.
