shopping.com listed amazon marketplace with the best price for a Fellows P70CM shredder at 34.99 with free shipping. i went to the site and went thru the ordering process up to the point where they wanted to add 10.99 for shipping and handling. they said i didn't qualify for free shipping because it was being shipped by a 3rd-party vendor. what a ripoff.

Amazon is generally an excellent source for finding and purchasing books

Looking for particular books used to be a problem for me I could never find what I wanted in the shops. Now I generally only use Amazon to purchase books. It is the most convenient and easy way to shop for books.
They have an excellent search facility that allows me to find even the most obscure titles at a reasonable price quickly and easily. They sell both first hand and second hand books but even the second hand books I received were always in excellent condition. They have a very prompt delivery service and I have never had any problems with my orders.
Overall I would definitely recommend Amazon as being a highly competent and efficient company.

Terrible customer service; my order could not be processed because supposedly my billing address did not match my card. Better off going directly through the store,instead of amazon. I shopped with Visual Apex and had no problems.

Outstanding marketplace and Customer service

A lot of these testimonials I've read greatly contradict my experiences with Amazon. Some of these folks are trying to say that Amazon is the culmination of all that is bad and unjust in this world. I just dont get it...Anyone who thinks they're customer service is 'bad', isn't dialing the right 800 number(800-201-7575). Over the past 2 years I've probably called amazon 20 or more times reguarding purchases I've made...not once did I wait more than a minute before I was speaking to a real live human who would change and cancel orders, or help sort out any issue I came up with.
...Something makes me think we have some sponsored Amazon haters creepin' around...

LIARS PULLING A BAIT N SWITCH

Ordered (or tried to) some 2-way radios from them. Items showed as being in stock, so I placed an order. An hour later I receive an email telling me that my order was cancelled.. no explanation.. just that it was cancelled. This was directly through a subsidiary of Amazon, not a private seller. A few days later it still showed as in stock, so I placed another order with the same results... cancelled. Even now it shows as being in stock. Had never ordered from them before, but now I wouldn't trust them. Looks too much like a bait and switch (the radio was listed for sale for $94, but offered for no less than $158 any where else).

There is another way by disputing the charge on your credit card until they credit your account via the credit card. I had the same problem with Six Week Body Makeover and it took one and one-half years to get it straightened out. While in dispute the credit card company cannot charge late charges or interest regarding the dispute. I hope this helps.

I have dealt with Amazon before and had a terrible experience buying books. I paid for the books and then never received it, and it was a nightmare trying to get my money back. I bought them in August as a Christmas present ($700 dollars worth of text books for my fiance for next semester) and did not receive them in time for Christmas. Once it got close to Christmas and still had not received the books, I pannicked. I bought them on www. barnesandnoble.com and received them in no time at all, and would probably continue to use Barnes and Noble for future book purchases. They are dependable, I've found. Today I bought a $10 item on Amazon only because I can't find it anywhere else. I have used Ebay and have been extremely happy with it compared to Amazon. After seeing all the other unhappy people here, i wonder why the Better Business Bureau or some other instutition hasn't straightened this out yet. I spent $10 here today and figure if it doesn't work out, then atleast I only lost 10 bucks. Personally, I would not recommend Amazon.

Amazon really sucks. I am their registered customer, but I just spent one and a half hours trying to sned ONE order. They set you up on an infinite do-loop, and keep changing my order. There is no way to contact customer service - not an email address, not a phone number. The so-called help line is not helpful I will never use them again. Order accuracy is non existent, there is no customer service, and overall satisfaction is zero.

The people who give amazon bad ratings are big babies. Amazon goes out of their way to please people. these people who complain...do they even try calling Amazon to see what they can do about their problems? Its like these people expect perfection. Out of the hundreds of times I have bought things their Ive had MAYBE two small problems. Its worth any small hassle for the great price AND the great customer service. I think bad raters just want to take out their frustrations on someone and Amazon is just there. They dont see what an asset amazon is in the United states and just how Amazing that operation truly is.

first and last time I'll ever use Amazon.

I ordered 2 videos (monday) from an Amazon store, newtown videos, only to be issued a partial refund the very next day (tuesday). On that very same tuesday, I called to find out what was going on. The store apparently did not have the item to ship out in the first place. When I got in touch with some one in Amazon's customer service,she and her "manager" seem to have a very heavy indian accent, making it extremely difficult to understand exactly what they were trying to get me to agree to. Eventually I discovered they were trying to issue a promotional gift card to me instead of my money. I did not agree. Then I was informed that I would have to wait approximately a month until the estimated delivery date had gone by before I could file a claim to recieve my money back. I'm currently waiting, but this is NOT good business. I will never ever do business with Amazon again. I cannot STAND these companys who are outsourcing thier customer service to other countries, to save money and skimp on customer service.

Placed order for a Boss MR2080W marine stereo unit that is sold through Gizmosforlife.com. I also called the vendor to confirm some product details. When I placed the actual order on the website a Boss MR1600W was substituted. I discovered the change when sharing the information with a friend who was interested in a similar unit. The same switch was made when he was placing an order. I was able to cancel the order and purchase the desired product from another vendor. I'm not sure whether this switch is intentional but it needs to be corrected to ensure no unpleasant surprises for future buyers.
